Bookmarks interface not updating properly.

Same here. Latest Ubuntu or Lates MacOs. Sometimes I cant replace an alias for a bookmark, it just wont change, maybe a nice "Save" button will be a good idea?
I can type it in the input nickanme... but when I want to use it than its not available because it has changed to previous value
so annoying, its not deterministic - over 2 years from now but now my patient has ended

@radoslawklak I can not reproduce it with 7.0.3495.29 / Debian 12 KDE / Ubuntu 24 LT GNOME / Windows 11 23H2.
Nick ins always saved and can be used. -

@radoslawklak Thanks.
VB-113064 "Bookmark nickname update problem" - Confirmed, developer assigned, bug fix in progress. -
@DoctorG Does that bug report include the original issue mentioned in this thread?
It seems to have been hijacked by people reporting a bug with non-syncing bookmarks between devices and something involving non-saved keywords, however the original issue (which still very much is an issue) is that the accordian style folder list view control in the bookmark add popup applet, as well as in the side panel bookmarks manager manager, and primary full window bookmarks manager does not update when expanding or contracting folders and subfolders in the bookmark tree. The Windows object itself does not seem to be getting triggered properly to "redraw" the folder tree to show the changed folder list representing the expanded or contracted folder you clicked (when this bug is active).
It does not seem to be a memory issue, as the people that are affected are able to reproduce this issue with minimal tabs, as well as immediately after a browser restart. That is, unless the memory issue persists across browser restarts. For what it's worth, I do reload the previous session with each restart. It is possible this issue involves the non-saving keywords, as changes are not updating properly after clicking, so I wanted to check in with anyone that has read the bug report.

Yes.

No, the report has nothing to do with Vivaldi Sync.

Stay tuned. Fix should be available in a next 7.1 Snapshot.

I am now running Vivaldi 7.0.3495.29 on Windows 10 Home 22H2. Clicking the triangle to expand or collapse a bookmarks folder consistently fails to update the view. If I then click on another bookmarks folder, or sometimes the same one, the view is updated. For me this is slightly quicker than pressing <F4><F4>.

In Bookmark Panel or Bookmark Manager?
What means "update the view"? After what action did you needed to update?
Please explain and give some steps so i can check. -

In Bookmark Panel or Bookmark Manager?
What means "update the view"? After what action did you needed to update?
Please explain and give some steps so i can check.I looked into this a little further. The problem has some subtle features which made it seem intermittent at first.
My main profile has about 8,390 bookmarks. The problem occurs in both the Bookmark Panel and the Bookmark Manager. However, it does not occur in a test profile with fewer bookmarks and no extensions. I tried disabling all extensions in my main profile, but that did not help.
Symptoms I observe:
-
When I open the Bookmarks Panel or Manager, visible items in the bookmark list behave normally. However, after I scroll the bookmark list (by either scrollbar or mouse wheel), they exhibit the problem described below. Closing and re-opening the Bookmarks Panel or Manager (or <F4><F4> for Bookmark Panel) suppresses the problem temporarily, until I scroll the list again.
-
On a scrolled item, operations which SHOULD modify what is displayed or hidden in the list instead leave the displayed list unchanged. The operation APPEARS to have had no effect, even though the underlying state has changed. Such operations include (probably among others):
- Click on a folder's triangle (expand/collapse),
- Right-arrow (expand) or Left-arrow (collapse) on a folder,
- Bookmark Active Page,
- Delete Bookmark,
- Delete Folder.
New Folder DOES display the new folder, probably because it pops up an entry field for the folder name.
- After (2), an operation which moves the selection indicator causes the effect of the previous operation to be displayed in the bookmarks list. That is, an expanded folder's contents become visible, a collapsed folder's contents become hidden, a created bookmark becomes visible, or a deleted item disappears from view. Such operations include:
- Click on a different (not selected) folder, bookmark, or separator,
- Up-arrow or Down-arrow to move the selection,
- Click in the Search field,
- Close and re-open the Bookmarks Panel or Manager.
Any suggestions to help track this down? Could there be a timing issue between updating a large bookmarks file and updating the displayed list?
