Confirm How To Get Always Visible Address Bar Back
-
I had the address bar go missing on all pages except new tabs, and then it was floating on the bottom. I reset it to appear on top, but it was still floating and wouldn't show up on pages I was on unless I pressed the Ctrl key. It was not hidden, because "Show Address Bar" was checked. I even clicked to set the address bar settings back to default. Nothing worked to even show it where it belongs, never mind keep it there.
Finally I checked the forum, and someone wrote that either F11 or Ctrl-F11 would work. I want to confirm Ctrl-F11 worked for me. The address Bar is back where it belongs. I can see the address of every web site I'm on without having to press another key each time. So Ctrl-F11 is a toggle between that disappearing floating address bar or the locked-in-position always visible address bar.
This had to be from an "update" because I never would have pressed Ctrl-F11 to put it in that state, not even by accident (I could press Ctrl by accident, but never F11). This should be an option for those who want it, not a feature automatically activated by an update.

@chuck441 The Address Bar is visible on the top by default, and there is no default shortcut define to show/hide the address bar. The only way to get it to appear at the bottom is to go into Settings, Address Bar, and change the position manually.
While doing that, if you accidentally unchecked Show Address Bar you will have the behaviour that you described, i.e. the floating address field would be displayed at the bottom on New Tabs, but not elsewhere.
Ctrl+F11 looks like a red-herring. Toggle UI, hides everything except the Window Title bar. Pressing it again would show the toolbars as they were before.

@Pesala, Thank you, I see now that Ctrl-F11 isn't a toggle the way I described. But it did reset the address bar where it belongs. Absolutely did, and nothing else did! And BTW, the Tabs and icons below the address bar never disappeared. It did not look how Ctrl-F11 makes it look. The only thing missing was the address bar, unless I pressed the Ctrl key.
But I will add a mea culpa - I should have tried Ctrl-F11 more than once before I called it a toggle for the floating and hidden address bar versus the locked in and visible address bar.
And if I ever did accidentally uncheck "Show Address Bar," it never came back when I rechecked it. I played with the settings (including that one) multiple times, multiple days before I went to the forum. I no longer recall whether it was still checked when I first tried to fix the issue, since that was around a month ago. But either way, rechecking that setting did not bring it back. Closing the browser with one setting, reopening and choosing the other setting, then closing and reopening again were among the fruitless choices I tried. But pressing Ctrl-F11 solved it. Strange perhaps, but that is how it happened. Maybe someone else will have to solve it the same way, which is why I wrote the post.
