Currently opened tabs file (folder) location
-
I quite often lose my open (including pinned) tabs after some crash of Vivaldi or the system. Instead of opening the previously open sites after a new start, Vivaldi might restore the session from a week ago. Weird.
Anyways, what I want to do is to backup the files (folders) that contain the list of currently open tabs like every 8 hours. Which files/folders must I backup to be on the safe side? -
@SVGuss
Maybe
\vivaldi\User Data\Default (or profile name)\Sessions -
@SVGuss Saved Sessions may suit your needs. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to overwrite a session with an updated version. One has to delete the saved session, then save the updated session. Or, you could just append the date, and delete old sessions at the end of the week, or whenever.

What is the purpose of the "Session Storage" folder in the User Data/Default directory?

I don't want to do that manually though. There must be a file that keeps the opened tabs which I want to automatically copy to a backup location. I don't see any 'freshly" modified files in the sessions folder... so where is it?
I might backup the whole defailt folder but that would be sort of crazy... -

Hi, close Vivaldi to watch the actual state of the files.
Vivaldi save always 4 files, 2 with the last session/tabs and 2 with the sessions/tabs before.
Do you use any cleaning software?
A Image of the Windows sessions folder take from Linux, I had Windows used in the morning Gestern=Yesterday, Heute=Today).Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin My bad, I was actually looking in an old standalone Vivaldi directory, now I am using the full install version and the User Data folder is in my C:\Users\etc... directory.
Alles ist genau wie Sie gesagt habenVielen Dank!

I have a question, what is the difference between the Session_xxxx and Tabs_xxxx files in the Sessions folder? Just for my education.
-
@SVGuss
The session_xxx files include the open tabs in a "Session", the tabs_xxx files include all closed tabs.
Vivaldi save the last 100 closed tabs, you can reach them from the trash bin icon right top and from the window panel.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Thank you!

This is very strange. I have those 4 files in the sessions folder. But Vivaldi opens with just one new tab despite those files being there. What happens? I double checked - I open the right installation of Vivaldi, it's a standalone innstallation in one directory. Why does it ignore what's in the sessions folder?

@SVGuss
Hi, I have standalone installations in \Downloads
It looks like:The profile is in User Data.
Open Help > About to check the path of the running Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin OK I think I know where I messed up - I opened a few different Vivaldi installations and they were running in the background. So they must have somehow interfered with each other. After closing all of them I played a bit changing the content of the Sessions folder and the browser seems to open the right thing.
Sorry for bother! -
@SVGuss
You are welcome, I am glad it work for you.
