uBlock Origin Lite

"uBO Minus is permission-less experimental MV3-based network request blocker
This is an experimental network request blocker using the Manifest V3's declarativeNetRequest.
It does not require broad "read/modify data" permission hence its limited capabilities compared to uBlock Origin or other blockers requiring broad "read/modify data" permission:
- No cosmetic filtering (##)
- No scriptlet injection (##+js)
- No redirect= filters
- No csp= filters
- No removeparam= filters
The default ruleset corresponds to uBlock Origin's default filterset:
- uBlock Origin's built-in filter lists
- EasyList
- EasyPrivacy
- Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list
- Online Malicious URL Blocklist
There are no regional ruleset in this early version.
There is also no popup panel in this early experimental version. The ability to disable on a per-site basis will be the current priority."

@barbudo2005 I tried it a few days ago. This won’t be able to replace the original. This would be the right time for Vivaldi to enable cosmetic filtering rules and to introduce an element zapper to the internal adblocker. People will switch browsers over this and in some cases rather sooner than later I fear. Should be top priority right now.

@luetage or just hiring gorhill for a 16hr part time
-
@Hadden89 That would be fun. All of the ublock origin code is open source anyway, but the license would require to share all changes and improvements back to the community. Don’t think gorhill would be available for adblock stuff in a proprietary environment.

Yes, January 2023 is just around the corner.

@luetage I know. But a vBlock Origin under mixed licence made with a collaboration between Gorhill [backend] & Vivaldi [frontend] won't be a bad thing to hope for; but yeah, likely won't happen ^^
Probably I'll switch to uBO- when the popup and adding "lists" will work; hopefully before January -
I personally think to move to Firefox if Vivaldi wouldn't keep and support Manifest 2. I need at least Tampermonkey beside uBO and Manifest 3 kills both.
But that's neither here nor there right now considering Google postponed switch to 2024 and already working on adding user scripts API, so TM might work for me (depending on level of access these scripts will have and ability to start before the page load) and with userscripts it might be possible to work around most of missing uBO features.
