Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow
-
@nellmf I didn't say or imply anything about user fault.
-
The suggestion of 'Jabber/XMPP' came from me please.
@nellmf said in Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow:
@Ayespy but to give the answers that you gave is simply pitiful
I think you should slowly start to rein in your tone.
No one who is involved here deserves to be called such insults. -
At no time offended anyone, only indicated that most moderators, to the problem, only said to check that it could be a problem of user configuration and that with the comments or feedback, they make us users feel ignorant. If that bothers you, you can gladly hit the eject button and remove from the forum. But that does not mean that I will shut up, feel free to make the decision you think is right, but the problem remains unresolved and even worse, you do not want to assume that the problem is Vivaldi's problem and that is what bothers the most.
-
@nellmf You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
If you start a topic asking for help diagnosing why Vivaldi runs slow on your rig, I am sure any number of users will help you debug it. Then Vivaldi will be fast for you, as it is for others.
The WhatsApp problem is already being addressed, so if you get a fast Vivaldi and a smooth WhatsApp panel, life will be good.
You are aware, I am sure, that the Vivaldi UI uses unique code, unlike any other browser, so there are some things you can't realistically compare between Vivaldi and others. This can also mean that compatibility bugs can require some special coding.
So I invite you to start a topic asking for help with your speed problems. Vivaldi is not inherently slow, so it does not have to be slow for you. At all times, keep in mind the Community Code of Conduct, in particular:
"...ask your questions clearly and stay positive."
"Be kind and friendly when giving or receiving feedback."
"Don’t insult or use unfriendly language..."

I don't agree with the mod thinking...
I'm a software developer... if something works in competition software and not in mine it is my software fault. Trying to place the blame in external places instead it own software is weird.
Whatapp Web is a web app like any other and runs in all browsers fines except now Vivaldi... it should be an Whatsapp Web issue if it happened in all Chromium browsers but not.
It is a specific issue to Vivaldi and the first step to make it better is to acknowledge the issue and not blame others.
-
@Edmarcio In my case Whatsapp works perfectly in an ordinary web tab.
It only becomes unresponsive when running in a side panel tab -
** Vivaldi 5.5.2770.3 - does WebWhatsApp work for you without issues in webpanel?**
How to get 5.5 Snapshot?
️ Read Snapshot vs Stable browser
- Fetch from https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/snapshots/.
- Install
-
@DoctorG Where can we grab it? It doesn't seem to be widely available to everyone
-
@DoctorG It works a bit better but keeps freezing after installing Vivaldi 5.5.2770.3.
-
@jesusmarquez said in Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow:
but keeps freezing
Oh, ok, means not usable in 5.5 Snapshot, too.
I will check Vivaldi bug tracker if current Snapshot was reported for this issue.
//EDIT: I updated bug tracker and pinged dev team, but i do not know about any progress yet. -
@DoctorG It does have the same issue... you start typing in a chat it freezes for several seconds but somehow it feels a bit better than 5.4 (don't take that as true... it is just feelings not accurate testing comparison.. the freezing is still there).
Via panels of course.
Edit - 5.5.2770.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)
-
@Edmarcio Thanks for testing with 5.5.
-
@Edmarcio I think exactly the same, I uploaded a case, indicating the problem, but I always received the answer from the moderators that it was a problem of the user, graphics card, processor, or some firmware problem. But well, it seems that this answer is simpler.
-
@DoctorG I am testing Vivaldi. 5.5, the side Panel problem with WhatsApp is exactly the same, it doesn't work. But the overall performance of the browser if improved considerably, going from 636 MB to 393 MB when opened, I tested it on all machines, with operating systems and in performance is incredibly good, only the mole is problems with WhatsApp in the side panel.

Hi, I wanted to report the same issue. Thought it was only me, but a quick online search led me to this topic:
5.4.2753.40 @ Mac Monterrey
Extensions:- 1Password
- Dark Reader
- Twitch Adblock
- Keepa
- Demodal

This!
Let us know when the problem is solved please...
I'm forced to use Opera now if i have to read and post quick stuff on WhatsApp and this is a pity other than a missed opportunity for the Vivaldi's grown!

same issue I love vivaldi even if it's not optimized but whatsapp lagging on my ryzen 7 rig just makes me feel so sad please fix it asap
-
Same issue with Debian Testing since the last 2 or 3 weeks.
The web panel starts normal but after a few minutes it turns very slow, switching conversations, clicking the text box, showing emojis, anything takes forever. -
Same here please fix this asap. Panels are one of the best things about vivaldi and whatsapp being useless is just annoying.
Vivaldi 5.4.2753.47

I have the same problem on my Linux computer
