Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow

@Yukora said in 100% Cpu usage on web panel use (whatsapp web):
Disabling all extensions
Disabling is not the same as "using no extension".
Check in Guest profile to see if a extension or Vivaldi Blocker causes this.Sometimes older hardware causes high CPU usage.

@DoctorG Still stutters even in a new profile - also freezes when writing messages
-
Is not extremly slow for me, but slower.
I do not know if Meta has changed something in web ui of Whatsapp the last weeks since last Vivaldi 5.4 update. -
I have the same problem, exactly the same. I love Vivaldi, it is my daily browser, but I also use WhatsApp as a business tool, and it has brought me many problems, to the point of having to reinstall Opera to be able to work quietly, it's a shame, Vivaldi has come to less in these last updates, resource consumption is excessively high and every time they add more features that make it terribly slow, now not even with a Dell computer with 16 GB of RAM, Core i7 processor 11 generation, nor with SSD 480 GB is possible to see speed, it is simply a turtle with a sea of latency, just horrible to use. What a disgrace.

Whatsapp web here is also completely unusable. It crashes and it is extremely slow. The problem persists whether I'm using on the side panel or as a normal tab. I tried removing cookies and disabling extensions, but it did not help.
Also tried on Edge and it works fine.Hope it gets fixed soon.

@DoctorG Well I installed Opera and it seems to me that it is not a matter of graphics card or updates, since Opera works in a real wonder, fast, agile without lag, if you tell me that to use the panel smoothly with Vivaldi, I need to have a video card with high performance on a laptop, well great, but I sincerely believe that it is a problem of how Vivaldi manages resources, with the latest updates Vivaldi is getting worse, with each function that are adding other worsen, consumption to open it is even slow and puts the slow computer, which does not happen with Opera, I have had to reinstall it with sorrow. I even formatted my computer to check if it was an issue of my computer and the surprise is that NO, the problem persists.
-
@mib2berlin Yes, I restarted the computer, even reformatted my laptop, updated firmware, drivers, etc, etc, etc. As I said I installed Opera and it works perfectly, the problem is directly the management that Vivaldi does, but not only that, since version 5.x, with many changes unfortunately Vivaldi has become less in my daily use, a browser that consumes almost 1GB and a high percentage of the processor does not become efficient in time because it slows down the computer in general, if I close it the inconvenience is over.

@nellmf
Hi, I don´t use WhatsApp, I kicked it some moths ago.
Something goes really wrong with the your system and the Vivaldi combination.
I have several systems with Windows 11 and Linux running Vivaldi fast and not resource hungry, no idea why it not work out for you.One have sometimes go further if a software waiste more time than it is useful.
I am very sorry if you leave Vivaldi but they ever come back.Cheers, mib

Experiencing the same thing. Macbook pro 13" 2020
Works well as a regular tab. -
I change WA to a tab:
1.- The slowness is gone.
2.- The problem with videos is still present.
-
I do not understand why my Vivaldi 5.4 Stable runs smooth with Windows 11 + GT 710 & Debian 11 + Intel Xeon E3-1200 as webpanel for WhatsApp and yours not.
-
@barbudo2005 Why did you skiip update to 5.4.2753.40?
And i remember some issue with videos was fixed in a 5.5 Snapshot.
-
Thank you.
Yes I am on 5.4.2753.37 (Stable channel) (64-bit). I will update. -
The problem with video is still present with 5.4.2753.40 (Stable channel) (64-bit) .
-
I reported now to bug tracker:
VB-91338 "WhatsApp in webpanel renders slow or freezes and has delayed interaction" - Confirmed.I hope the devs will test and investigate.
-
@barbudo2005 Sad, that update did not help.
-
Same here.
Since yesterday it started to run slow.
It take like minutes to give me back the action to post a message for example.I don't think it is related to the new Vivaldi version because I updated on Aug 24th and the issue started today.

@DoctorG I think it is a common mistake to use high hardware resources, I think that an application like a Browser depends on a graphics card with certain features, Processor, etc, etc, is the worst business, it is easy to test with a hardware with high resources, the ideal is that it works on any computer, if not then send to buy all, with high graphics cards, Unfortunately more and more people will attest to what I say, if they do not want to see it, because they are using high hardware, they should always test with low resource users, then they will realize if an application is slow or not.

@mib2berlin Well yes, as I once left Opera to use Vivaldi because it met all my work and personal expectations, on my phone, on servers, on my laptop and on my desktop with Linux, today unfortunately Vivaldi and the side panel, are making my life impossible, especially with the slowness with which Vivaldi works, it's amazing how they can spoil a browser, for "better features", I think you should never lose the north of what a browser is, well yes, everything makes me think that returning to Opera is the best decision.
