Whatsapp web on web panel became extremely slow
-
Hi, I've been following this issue as affected as well.
Seems for me that the Whatsapp panel is back to working fine.I am using Vivaldi on Linux Mint 20.3 and running the latest update provided 5.4.2753.51 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit).
I didn't do anything fancy, just disconnected emptied cache and it's now back to work whereas it wouldn't for the last few weeks. So I don't know if this is of any help to anyone, maybe changes were made on Whatsapp side?
-
@d6bels agreed, much snappier now - seems WhatsApp fixed the issue they caused themselves.
-
@WildEnte mine is always crashing(black doc icon )
-
@ashwin240999
Mine too -
Some users installed 5.5 Snapshot and panel runs better.
-
In 5.4.2753.51 (Stable channel) (64-bit) the problem is present in panel.
When I change to a chat with this image:
I get this :
-
@barbudo2005 Does this happen with 5.5, too?
If yes, please report issue to Vivaldi tracker -
I am having the same issue with the latest Windows 10 64-bit version of Vivaldi. The web whatsapp works great in a normal tab, is super slow in a panel.
-
@DoctorG
I only have Vivaldi stable. -
Seems like it is fixed from my use.
Snapshot 2805.3 fix the Whatsapp issues for me at least in few minutes of use (before it happened in few seconds).
-
@Edmarcio Happy to read this. Thanks for your feedback.
-
@DoctorG it was a early comment but now after a day of use I can say it is really fixed on my end even the ChangeLog not listing the bug as fixed.
Thanks for all the help btw.

I have been following this thread as I had the issue too for weeks.
If I understand properly, the current 5.4.2753.51 version doesn't have any fix, but the snapshot 2805.3 has a fix ?
When should we expect to have a fix in the stable release ?Thank you
-
@megosu it will be released with the next major Stable update - which should not be too far away from now.
-
@megosu As a rule, stable is stable. fixes are not generally released for an already-released stable version with the exception of security issues and "showstoppers."
That said, an entirely new stable version is released usually every six to eight weeks, and that will normally include every fix or upgrade that has been seen in the Snapshot version that has been percolating in-between Stable versions.
-
It seems to have been a fix on the Whatsapp side, since web panel on stable (5.4.2753.51) also appears to be without the major slowdowns recently.
I did start getting the dead bird in some group chats (seemingly with certain pictures) as barbudo2005 also posted. I'm gonna wait for the next stable and report if it still happens there.
-
I reported this to Whatsapp support, being confident that it is an issue at their end. No other web app shows this issue. Support seems to have trouble believing it is an issue.
-
Seems to be fixed now!
-
WhatsApp , DeepL and Vivaldi Notifications get a dead bird in panel:
Does it only happen to me?
