@mib2berlin
Hi mib,I tried Guest profile in the past, and it didn't work.
For the sake of good order, I tried again yesterday- deleted my user profile and restored all settings from scratch (only bookmarks and passwords were synced).
Unfortunately - UI still freezes. Hope for some solution from developers, as in my opinion this is an important bug.
PS: my current version: 5.6.2867.40 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

@Chetter
Hi, I add a comment to the bug, I hope they can reproduce.
I can, two freezes today with a clean profile.Cheers, mib

On Linux (Debian, Mint, Ubuntu) Vivaldi seems to have trouble with some Intel drivers and freezes.
Unfortunately on my office PCs -
Bumping this instead of bumping my own thread

@Dsndss Take this if you need Bumps
You got my attention as you see, but developers will not fix faster if you bump around in forum, dear visitor.

DoctorG said in Frequent freezes after update 5.4:
VB-91427 "Browser UI freeze after 5.4 update", then reply to the mail the tracker sent to you after you reported.
No progress yet for a investigation.
GPU drivers, antivirus or other security tools, some extensions are mostly the trouble makers.
I had it over some weeks that audio or network driver in my Windows 11 22H2 caused freezes for some seconds.
-
Im not sure GPU drivers or anti-virus is the issue here, i use Windows built in anti-virus so no external program, and i use the latest NVIDIA drivers and also 0 extensions. These are things i imagine A LOT of people are using so if these are issues, this thread would have 500 more posts. Its either that or people have given up and switched browsers.
My best guess is, i run vivaldi in "windowed mode" so not full screen. Perhaps this might be cause for issues tabbing between full screen programs and vivaldi.
-
I run Vivaldi full screen, and never windowed. And have freezes.
I use windows defender, and latest GPU drivers from NVidia (not from MS update).
Also worth mentioning, that I have never had similar issue on MS Edge, that I use on same system. So I tend to believe it is browser-specific issue and not user error or similar.

Oh well that was my best guess.

MS Edge is not the same as Vivaldi 5.6 (has Chromium core 108.0.5359.105). If you want to compare you need to use Chromium 108.0.5359.99.

Hi, I don´t think this is a driver issue because of two things:
- If an application not respond to the video driver for some time the driver kill the application and/or restart itself.
- This happen on Windows and Linux with different drivers, Nvidia and Intel.
Yesterday I had 7 or 8 freezes and I test to disable the Vivaldi add blocker. Since then I don´t have any freezes, only a lot of advertising.
I use the default lists, no EasyPrivacy on a clean profile and with the forum mod extension, nothing else.
This was the same yesterday except the tracker was active.
I will test further.
Cheers, mib

@Chetter
Hi, since I disabled hardware acceleration it don´t freeze anymore on my Linux install but at the same time the GPU driver was updated, the same procedure as last year.
Nobody can dependable reproduce it, no debugging possible, no fix.Cheers, mib
EDIT: Again a freeze today, still no solution. -
Vivaldi freezes on me pretty frequently. Sometimes, the browser will go black, then reload, and everything's fine. Other times (like now) it just stops. Tab selection still works, and reloading the page works, but page does not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard entry.
Currently, I'm in Gmail, and I have opened a jpeg attached to an email message. And suddenly, nothing.
Any fixes you folks know of? This happens on both computers I use frequently.
Thank you!

This has started to happen today after I updated Vivaldi snapshot later to 5.7.2921.3 and the previous version first. It only happens on pages with active video playback, at random.
-
I have disabled smooth scrolling, this probably do nothing.
It's not a memory leak, because RAM it's not been eaten away.
Any wishes for experiments, maybe disabling cores or something, while the bug is present?
