Runbox
-
Hi, I just opened up Vivaldi Mail for the first time and started entering the data for my accounts. The first two went well (Comcast, in the US). Then I tried to enter the data for Runbox (Norway), manually. I filled every box completely and (I hope) correctly, but the "Continue" button never became active. I did not see any error messages.
Anybody know what's going on? Thanks.

This gets more mysterious. Vivaldi Mail assigned the Runbox email address to one of the Comcast email accounts that I'd already set up. That may explain why it won't let me establish it under that name.
Is there a way I can change the name of the Comcast account back to what it was?
I'd delete the Comcast account and add it again, but I can't find how to delete an email account. I also don't know if all the mail from that account would get removed as well.

@eggdog removing an account ought to remove its email as well.
You remove an account by highlighting it and pressing the minus button at the bottom of the account list in settings.
The identity and server settings of each account are apparently not editable once an account has been verified. If it's unverified, it should be editable.
Hmmmm. -
@eggdog Of course if you are using IMAP, removing an account does not remove mail on the server. You can start over again.

@eggdog
Hi, does Runbox not work automatically?
If you enter manually each server field verify if it is correct.
I never read/heard a mail account ix mixed to another except in received/unread, all account mails are shown there.
All Accounts show the mail accounts separately.
Better start from scratch. Do you use IMAP?
You can delete an account using the - icon.A pop up appears and ask if you want to keep the mails already fetched.
Cheers, mib

Thank you both. I deleted the account, and like mib2berlin says, Vivaldi Mail did give me the option to leave the read mail where it was. I was using POP3 for that account.
When I tried to make Runbox one of my accounts this time, it worked without any prompts. And I was able to add the original Comcast account - the one that then got saddled with the Runbox name - also without a problem.
This time, I established the Comcast accounts as IMAP. I had a traumatic experience with IMAP once, but that was about fifteen years ago, so maybe IMAP and I have both grown up since then. For now, it's all good.
I suppose the only mystery is why VMail assigned the Runbox name to an existing account. While I was setting up the accounts again today, I looked out for somewhere I could have gone wrong and couldn't identify anything at all. Unless somebody else reports it, maybe we could just call it a ghost in the machine.
Thanks again!
