URL percent encoding (ASCII) in search, Vivaldi replaces spaces with %20
-
Recently, searching via the address bar or the quick selection page in vivaldi has been a nightmare for me. Every time I enter something in the search, vivaldi replaces spaces with %20. For example, I search for "this is a test" and I get "this%20is%20a%20test".
I have no idea what could have caused this and how to fix it. I have already gone through all the settings repeatedly and have not found anything. Whereby also I don't know why you should be able to set something like that.
By the way, the problem persists when I disable all addons, in private mode as well. However, when I use the guest profile, the error is gone.

@sebminden
Hi, it does not replace space for me with Bing and Google as search engine, what do you use?
Do you have doubled search engines in the search settings?Cheers, mib

Thanks a lot for this tip! That was indeed the solution. For reasons I couldn't explain, the entry for startpage.com was duplicated. -
But searches with POST method do not seem to work anymore. For both startpage and duckduckgo, which I used forever with the settings, it doesn't work now.

@sebminden Hi - this has been discussed earlier, and a solution found by a user, see:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/74653/post-search-converts-spaces-to-20In short, apparently changing
%s
to%S
will stop encoding spaces with%20
, this seems to be some kind of undocumented "feature" at this point so might change at any time.There are no POST search engines by default, but this one was probably moved over when updating.

Mentioned (by @guigirl ) in current Snapshot thread
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/77216/chromium-bump-and-accent-from-page-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-2722-3/54?page=3#:~:text=This Snappie has once again broken all POST searches -
@TbGbe Yep, sad but true, bwaaaaaaaah.
Otoh, all my POST-searXes, from search-field and context-menu, on new tabs, still work purrrrrrrrrrfeckly in my turquoisepurplefox. Allegedly.
-
@guigirl Yeah, when it comes to POST people, I guess Foxes are like dogs
-
@TbGbe You should write fortune-cookies & xmas-crackers. You're a natural!
-
@sebminden The solution that worked for me was to change the the $s to $S in the address of the Search Engines particularly the Startpage Url. which is the one I am using.
The picture might help if my explanation is inadeaquate
