Disqus issues
-
Since Monday a site I have been using regularly for some time no longer works. https://nttl.blog/
This uses Disqus via a Wordpress site. The comment section below each post no longer loads and We were unable to load Disqus. If you are a moderator please see our troubleshooting guide is displayed. The site continues to work correctly in Palemoon and Edge so unsure whether it is a Vivaldi issue. Several of the posters on there, using various platforms. have also reported issues. -
@davews Hi - looks like you need to accept 3rd-party cookies from
disqus.com
for comments to load. Are you blocking 3rd-party? Check Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies in Vivaldi.
There are ways to still use Disqus when blocking 3rd-party, but it's, well ... complicated.

I'm using the addon
Privacy Badger
that displays a little window (instead of comment section) with asking to allow once or always display it.After clicking on
allow
the comment section is visible.Beside the good suggestion of @davews I just want to show an alternative with allowing all within Vivaldi but then blocking with external addons like the above and
ublockOrigin
. -
@Dancer18 Thanks both, yes allowing third party cookies solves it. Must still have been a change at Disqus because it worked fine until Monday. Is there a way, possibly in UBlock Origin that I use to allow third party cookies only in Disqus?
-
@davews That's good then we know what causes it
Far as I know, uBlock can't block cookies. I believe uMatrix can though.
I also block 3rd-party cookies by default, and I add any domains I want to add 3pc from to the list at:
chrome://settings/cookies
For Disqus you would add:[*.]disqus.com
Add that page as a panel for easy access.
But make sure the URL starts withchrome://
and edit if necessary. -
@davews
Hi, you can do this in Vivaldi open chrome://settings and search for cookies. There you can add a domain to an accept list. This setting is not available in the Vivaldi settings.
Cheers, mib

Thanks, now added - in fact didn't need to do as https://nttl.blog was already there. Glad it was so easy to sort out.

@davews In my experience, you need to add the third-party domain you want to accept cookies from there, as first-party are always accepted anyway. So you'll need to add Disqus, not the NTTL site.
