Mouse button to go back in history no longer works

Hi,

Since the last Vivaldi update the mouse button to go back in history no longer works. It still works fine in Spotify and Chrome, but in Vivaldi no longer. I can still use the backspace key on my keyboard or the back button in the browser to go the the previous page, but the mouse function no longer works.

Any suggestions?

I have no idea what could cause this. I have a Corsair mouse with side back/forward buttons and it works fine in Vivaldi. I also have a Logitech wireless and it works there as well.

My suspicion is a driver issue, so make sure the mouse drivers are updated. Also I seem to remember Logitech SetPoint stuff could cause problems. I just have it turned off to use the generic mouse drivers.

Does it work in for instance Win Explorer when using back/forward buttons?

I suggest you test in a clean profile first, to exclude any settings/extensions etc.

@Pathduck Thanks for the suggestions. I am using Vivaldi version 5.3.2679.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows 11 Pro 21H2. My mouse is an Endgame X1 and I am using the default drivers with X-Mouse Button Control to change the button functions.

I have tried using a new profile and even installed a standalone version but the issue persists. The forward/back functionality works in other apps like Spotify, Chrome, and Windows Explorer. Only Vivaldi is affected.

@aronvanos OK my guess is incompatibility with Vivaldi in this "X-Mouse Button Control" software. Try disabling the software and see if it works then.

Vivaldi can't do much about incompatible third-party software. You should really contact the XBMC forum about this incompatibility.

But still, it seems a pretty popular tool, so maybe a bug report for Vivaldi might work too...

I was able to trace back the issue to Vivaldi. On a previous version of Vivaldi the back-button worked fine, however on the latest version it doesn't anymore. It appears it doesn't process the 'Back' command properly like it once did, with Explorer and Spotify still working fine. I will submit a bug report.

I have the same problem using Vivaldi version 5.6.2867.46. It sucks because Vivaldi is the only program that has the problem.
