Recover Vivaldi App Data from Windows.old Folder
-
Hello!
Recently I just reset my PC (yes, using Reset This PC from Windows 10 Settings) and I forgot that I didn't thought about my browser data already. So, when I was open Vivaldi after the reset, I was surprised because everything is lost and also realized that I forgot to think about the backup system.
Well, unfortunately, I forgot to sync the browser data using Vivaldi account (I have the account before, but forgot to use it to sync the data). Then I wondering that is it possible to recover Vivaldi data using Vivaldi's App Data from Windows.old folder? Since actually I also need my sessions to be restored
Thank you.

Hi,
usually it works, if you copy the folder "Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default"
If you only need your session, it is sufficient to copy the folder "\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Sessions"
Hopfully these folders are still present in Windows.old

@Lucius Oh, thanks for the info! I think I will try it.

@Lucius Thanks! It works for the manually saved session. Now I have 2 questions.
- How to load the last session? I mean, before I reset my PC, I have a session and well usually it will be loaded normally every time I re-open the browser. But, the problem is I forgot to manually save that session. Maybe the screen shot that I attached could illustrate it well.
- How to recover old browsing history from Windows.old?
Thanks.!

@ivanassidqi Hi,
for you first question:
You start Vivaldi and save your current session (File - Save all Tabs as Session). Then you close Vivaldi. Now you navigate to the current Vivaldi-folder "Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Sessions".
There you delete (or move to some backup-folder) the two files starting with Session_ and the two files starting with Tabs_
Then you copy the file Session_13297499861853476 from the folder "App Data Windows Old\Vivaldi old\User Data \Default\Sessions" to "Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Sessions"When you now start Vivaldi, the old session should be recovered.
Cheers, Lucius

@Aaron Thanks! Gratefully your answer also help me to recover other things like my browser setting/preferences, side panels, extensions, etc.
Sorry for the very late reply/update.
