Solved Youtube dropping frames
-
Since some time, most of the youtube videos are constantly losing frames.
The same thing happens with guest window and / or with disabled extensions. This is the example I noticed today comparing edge and Vivaldi:
(ignore viewport sizes, they have been changed for the screenshot)
When I applied "fixes" from other forum posts regarding GPU acceleration, I started losing 30% frames instead of 10%:
I also downloaded and tested on pure chromium - the issue is still not visible.
My hardware:
Ryzen 3700X
RTX 2080
16GB ramIs there any solution for this issue?

You meant 30% loss with HW acceleration off?
Yes, with it off I lost more frames than with it enabled.
Do you have any AV software running?
Hey, no AV running in the backgrount except standard windows defender.
I've gone into the forum and found a similar post where a user narrates this experience with AMD, you should probably check it out and confirm it for yourself.
I had the same experience with and without freesync enabled. This info made me try to fully clear all drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller and blocked Windows GPU drivers just to be sure.
Now I'm losing ~0.05% of frames, so it is not noticable now.
It could be, that Windows updated my drivers and made some mess, after clearing it up everything came back to normal. If the issue comes back, I'll update the post with more info.

@K-Wilczynski
Hi, since your hardware should be stream several 4K videos without frame dropping it is maybe a third party security software slowdown Vivaldi. This happen often after an update from Vivaldi.

Do you have any AV software running?Cheers, mib

Hello, @K-Wilczynski

If so, you should submit a report via vivaldi.com/bugreport.

Perfect. If it persists again, remember that you can report it through vivaldi.com/bugreport.
There, the devs will know if it is a driver specific problem.
