QR Code generator doesn't accept text
-
Today i tried using the built-in QR code generator to create a QR code for a download link. Problem is: the link instantly redirects to a file with a different name, but i need a QR code for the link adress, not the file adress.
I can enter the adress in the QR code generator and the shown QR code changes accordingly, but i can neither copy the changed QR code nor can i save it. The resulting QR code always pionts to the site currently open, not the text in the adress bar or the text entered in the QR code generator.
I'd very much like an option to directly create a QR code from a clickable link without having to use a plug-in.
AND: the QR codes created with vivaldi are missing a white border. this can cause many problems if you try to use the QR code in something printed if you forget to add a white border.

@start78 Hi, please report any such bugs you find so they can be fixed by the team.
Please read:
carefully and report the bug to the Vivaldi bugtracker

I don't know if this is a bug or if this behaviour is intentional!?
-
@start78 Of course it's not intentional, if it was there wouldn't be an editable field that changes the QR
I guess not a lot of people use the QR feature, I can't remember seeing any other reports.
The documentation says:
"Type or paste the URL you want to create the QR code for."
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/qr-code/And the lack of a white border might also like you say be an issue, even if I'm not sure if it's required according to the QR spec - I suggest you report that one as well.

I just tested this and can confirm the same. When I change the text/URL in the QR code popup in Vivaldi the QR changes accordingly (and scanning it correctly displays the text/URL I entered). But if I choose to save the QR code it will save the original QR code (the one for the webpage I'm currently on, not the text/URL I entered).
Definitely a bug.

I checked it now (Vivaldi snapshot 5.3.2658.3) and can confirm it too.
