Unregister Standalone from Registry
-
From the help page about the standalone version
Delete the folder containing the Vivaldi standalone.
In case you registered the standalone version as a default app, registry keys and update notifiers (if enabled) need to be deleted manually.
What registry keys do I need to delete to get rid of this ghost?
Also, any steps I need to take about update notifiers? -
@legobuilder26 Hi - search in regedit for string "Vivaldi S". You should find something like:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\Vivaldi.BVP3E6HQTDA3WOXD32MPIDD5HA Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VivaldiHTM.BVP3E6HQTDA3WOXD32MPIDD5HA Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VivaldiHTM.BVP3E6HQTDA3WOXD32MPIDD5HA
Delete these keys, name is probably not exact. You might get warning of "error deleting" but that should be OK.
Note: Always make restore point before messing in registry, just in case. Will also find several MRU entries, these can be ignored. Might need to restart Explorer after doing it, but I didn't.

Best is to use the tool Autoruns from Sysinternals (MS):
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autorunsYou might see entries like this:
\VivaldiUpdateCheck-f12d96cf020a4216 Vivaldi update notifier Vivaldi Technologies AS D:\bin\Vivaldi\Application\update_notifier.exe Thu Apr 28 06:59:53 2022
This is actually a Scheduled Task, so you can delete it from there as well.
