Website Shortcut On Taskbar
-
Hello-
I can't seem to put a shortcut icon on Windows 7 taskbar for Speedtest.net (Ookla). It was a pretty easy deal on Chrome and Edge.
Can someone please help?.... (please see attachment)Thanks, in advance-

@timbo128 Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Please explain what happens when you try to pin the icon?
What is the target value of the link (check properties)? Is it a
Internet Shortcut (.url)
or aShortcut (.lnk)
file? Check properties, general tab.I have no problem pinning either lnk or url files to the taskbar here in Windows 10. I can't test with Win7.

Hi, Pathduck...thanks for the reply and sorry it took so long to get back here.
Here are 3 snips of what's going on..... in left clicking on the Speedtest icon and dragging to the taskbar, another window pops up, but releasing the left click nothing happens.
Windows 7-10, for the most part, function pretty much the same with this regard.
Photos are in order of occurrence.... I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just getting old and can't keep up with technologies as in the past.
Thanks-
Tim

@timbo128 Hi - yes, looks like a .url file (aka "Internet Shortcut"). And turns out my test yesterday was incomplete, .url files do not work for pinning. Not sure if it's a Vivaldi thing or Windows thing.
I recommend instead you make a copy of the Vivaldi shortcut, and change its target value by appending the URL you want (Speedtest). Then change its icon and pin it like regular. It should work hopefully.
Sorry if this sounds complicated, I'm not very good explaining things in a non-technical way, it's the only way I know... This is pretty standard Windows stuff though, been like this since the early days.
