Yes Vivaldi just closes (not crash so no crash log) several times a day
Vivaldi 5.2.2623.39 (Stable channel) (arm64)

@nanamahina New update! Closes/crashes....
-
Just closed on
Vivaldi 5.2.2623.41 (Stable channel) (arm64)I was in another app at the time
-
Still crashing/closing. one tab open... reading an IG post.

FYI, I have raised this issue internally. It happened to me two days ago where Vivaldi terminated for no apparent reason but it hasn't happened again since, and I have not yet found a way to replicate the problem. A number of you have also filed bug reports... thanks for doing that... but they either don't have any steps-to-reproduce or I can't replicate them, neither with a new/clean installation nor with the installation that I use day-to-day.
If you have reliable steps-to-reproduce, please post them so that others here (and the internal testers) can try to replicate the problem.
Thanks!

I suspect this has something to do with the panels.
I had a Whatsup panel, Vivaldi has been stable since I removed it.
Can anyone reproduce this? -
Hello.
I had the same problem with random closing the browser. I found Vivaldi Helper (GPU) logs in macOs diagnostic reports (/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/). Almost all of them are about wakeups, but the last one is about lack of memory.Event: wakeups Action taken: none Wakeups: 45009 wakeups over the last 60 seconds (749 wakeups per second average), exceeding limit of 150 wakeups per second over 300 seconds Wakeups limit: 45000 Limit duration: 300s Wakeups caused: 45009 Wakeups duration: 60s Duration: 60.12s Duration Sampled: 6.01s Steps: 3

Then I checked memory tab in Activity Monitor and discovered that redis process takes more than 11Gb of RAM. I flushed all redis db and the browser problem is gone. I don't know who should handle memory errors in that case OS or browser...

V5.2.2623.41 on MacOS Monterey 12.3.1.
Still quits without warning while just browsing for little while. Maybe memory issue as above?
Going back to Firefox or Brave again. I'll wait for next update to try again.

I'm using Vivaldi for my workstation (Win x64), mobile (Android) and my travel MacBook. Rest is working just fine but MacOS version is keep crashing all the times (several once a day). It looks like it is not for a specific reason, last time was watching a youtube video.
Love Vivaldi and using it for synced data in all platforms but this makes it unusable for MacOS.
Maybe you guys can implement uploading crash logs automatically after crash? Because as far as I can see, it is ongoing issue for last couple years. And also I followed this but it seems it doesn't even have logs.

Another thing that I managed to get.
I ran the browser from a console with output to log fileVivaldi &> log.txt
and left it without any opened tabs for a while.
After some time the browser was closed and in the console was this log:Segmentation fault: 11
And the last log from the log.txt file:
[0501/150641.651778:WARNING:crash_report_exception_handler.cc(235)] UniversalExceptionRaise: (os/kern) failure (5)

Crashed just a moment ago too, without internet connection and while in idle.

@pafflick This problem is not going away. I have submitted crash reports as the following bugs:
VB-88077 | 2022-04-06 | v5.2.2623.24
VB-88692 | 2022-04-20 | v5.2.2623.39
VB-88954 | 2022-05-02 | v5.2.2623.41Actions (as reported above):
Open Vivaldi by clicking the icon in the Dock
Wait until main browser window appears
Press Cmd+W to close the main browser window
Press Cmd+Shift+N to open a new incognito browser window
...
(v5.2.2623.24 would crash immediately; now v5.2.2623.39/41 crash within an hour)
No further activity in the browser is needed to cause the crash, I just continue using other applications and leave it running in the background.I use macOS Mojave 10.14.6 on a 21.5-inch 2017 iMac with 8GB of RAM and super-slow 1TB HDD.

@heather0 It is still crashing several times a day randomly, will have to go back to another browser! I am using my brand new mac with Vivaldi 5.2.2623.42 ?
-
Also experiencing this issue
-
When having the crashes when was the last restart of macOS?
-
FYI, the devs have analyzed the crash reports and are actively working on a fix.

@xyzzy Thank you for giving us something about the issue. It's good to hear that the Vivaldi team has acknowledged the issue at least.
Unfortunately, at least for me, and it seems similar to other people, there won't be any reliable reproduction steps, as the issue seems to happen randomly.
I'm a dev as well and I understand that they need reproduction steps, and it is the perspective I'm trying to use when I report an issue. I believe that in this case the only way to work on it is just use the browser for long time, with many different tabs open, with all memory tracers on - something that devs should do.
To me it happens few times a day during, during reading content, watching yt, switching tabs... many normal interactions. Some time ago it always happened when I had the calendar integrated with gmail, so whenever it prompted login to gmail with pop-up window, the browser closed itself. This was why I removed calendar integration, so it happens way less often, but it still happens now and then.

Hi everyone I have a problem with the Browser closes without any reason while I work or even if it is open and I am doing something else with other programs it closes
i work with iMac Pro Intel Xeon W 8 core with mac OS 11.6.5 system
I tried to open a support request for the problem and do the Report crashes on macOS as described here
it just fails me it gives me the following zip error: Nothing to do!
maybe I'm wrong something I don't know, and therefore I can't send a report to assistance, I've been waiting for days and in the meantime the browser keeps closing and slows down my work a lot
does anyone have any suggestions for me? it would be very useful
Thank you very much
