Fabulous performance but a lot of detail to go through

OK, I am new to Vivaldi, but my view is that it is good enough to be my default browser.
I am a techie and comfortable learning about new programs.
It gets to web pages much faster than any of my Chrome Channel browsers and is much more stable than any of my Firefox Channels.
I like the predefined color setups and will eventually try to develop one myself.
I am telling my friends about this product and since I provide support for a living, they trust my views.
I saw in the list someone suggesting that you focus on performance. I do not understand why anyone would not love the performance of the browser. It's extraordinary on my Alienware Laptop.
I would, however, spend a little more time developing the organization of the settings. It took me 1/2 day to go through all the settings and the time it took was in part because of the number of changes possible (a wonderful feature) and partially because there was too much to learn that was not really necessary. -
@albertkolkin welcome to the community. I also don't understand the complaints of some users about supposed poor performance. Vivaldi may not appear in the first place in some benchmark services, but I think that these tests have nothing to do with the performance in practice, which I find quite superior to the other browsers that I have tried.

I suspect that the amount of RAM affects performance. I have 32 Gigs, which may be at least double what some have.

Welcome.
@albertkolkin said in Fabulous performance but a lot of detail to go through:

Some of us, since right back in early 2015, pretty much swooned in absolute disbelieving delight with the sheer pleasure of so much personalisation & control at our fingertips.
I am a techie and comfortable learning about new programs
Then give serious consideration to using [instead/ as well] Snapshot.

I do not understand why anyone would not love the performance of the browserHaha, the forum is chock-full of utterly contradictory compliments & complaints on that topic. "Wow, my V is so fast, i love it, best thing since sliced bread". "Geez damnit, my V is slower than a wet weekend & the Devs suck".
is much more stable than any of my Firefox Channels
As a longterm Vivaldifarian who for the past few years has been flipping back & forth between V Snappie & FF Nightly, i am bewildered by this statement. [Most of the time] my V Snappie is wonderful AND my FF Nightly is wonderful.

@albertkolkin RAM does affect performance, at least somewhat. 16GB is the most I have on any machine (DDR4 on this one and DDR3 on others), and it's slicker than snot with that much. Still, I find performance acceptable all the way down to 2GB DDR2 on a 15-year old machine. But when you're running a rig like that, you just expect things to take a long time.

@albertkolkin The Welcome screen will get most users up and running, but techie users will want to do more. You can search settings to find what you want quickly (if you can guess the right word to search for).
CSS Mods further extend the options.
Give it a few weeks, and you will find your way around.

Curious as i only have 2gb of ram and vivaldi is very fast on this quite old laptop.
-
@albertkolkin , as you can see in my signature, I only have a humble laptop and Vivaldi runs fast and flawless (2-3s to start and somewhat less to open webpages, with all extensions), faster than the FF and even EDGE.

@DanielVPT97 , welcome to the community. Yes, Vivaldi has a huge amont of settings and tools, more than any other browser, that can be overhelming for some users. But one time customized to your like, you don't need to touch the settings anymore.
The tools and features of Vivaldi, well, there are a lot, but nobody needs all of these, but it gives you the security of having them at hand in case of need, without having to look for an extension and many times you will find functions and tools that are useful to you and where you did not know before that they are, like the translator, in your case.
Enjoy and experiment with Vivaldi and you'll soon find it essential.PS In my signature you'll find a list of Vivaldi links which may be usefull for you →→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→↴
