If I log into Facebook using this URL (https://www.facebook.com/) in Firfox I get this:
If I use the same URL using Vivaldi I get this:

Can someone tell me how to sort this out, please?

And with Chrome
I have some odd looking emails as well
But why is Vivaldi producing that foreign log in page?

Works normally here in linux.

@tonygamble Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Are you able to read that language or run it through a translator? What does it say?
Any extensions installed?
Any 3rd-party security software? What is the actual URL of that page? I'm assuming here you get some kind of redirect to another page, unless it's some extensions or similar.
Please try the troubleshooting steps:

I key in www.facebook.com using Vivaldi and it takes me to
https://www.facebook.com/checkpoint/828281030927956/?next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F
On Firefox it takes me to that entry screen and the URL does not change
-
@tonygamble Have you tried actually signing in to FB in another browser?
A quick web search found (among a lot of hits):
https://www.reddit.com/r/facebook/comments/14f00b/facebook_checkpoint_locked_out_of_my_account/
https://www.csoonline.com/article/2131957/facebook-security--checkpoint--hits-user-roadblock.htmlLooks like FB suspects you've been locked out of your account by something malicious.
No idea why it's in that language - do you read that language?

I was logged out but Firefox allowed me to ask for a text that gave me a number to reset my password. I can not get in with that facebook.com url and see this;
Using that short .com url with Vivaldi gives me this screen
Third party security apps - yes Malwarebytes
I have tried clearing the Vivaldi cache with shf ctl del

I meant I CAN GET IN using Firefox of course.

@tonygamble Looks to me like someone got into your account, changed language to Chinese(?) and changed email to a Russian one. Check your email setting in FB as well. You were lucky you had a backup number to reset the password, I guess they forgot to change that (maybe a bot).
Try clearing browsing data in Vivaldi and try again.
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/delete-browsing-data/
To just clear data for FB:
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/delete-browsing-data/#Delete_data_per_websiteOr use Devtools (F12) > Application tab > Storage > Clear Site Data + including 3rd-party cookies.
-
It's nearly working now.
At least not chinese.
Must go out for a meeting.
What seemed to be the answer was a massive clear out of cache, cookies etc.
Yes a text to reset. In fact it had the wrong cellphone number but I was able to put a new one in.
Will be back later.
In the meantime thanks for your help.
I love Vivaldi. One of the curses of Firefox is how much memory it hogs.
And I do like having all my browsing pages stacked up on the right hand side of my screen.

@tonygamble Great
Hmm, I wonder if we can invoice Facebook support
-
Wait, what?
Okay, something hacked your facebook account, got that. Changed the mail address and password, makes sense, so you can't login anymore. Probably changed the language as well, because why not.
So, next time you tried to login with the old credentials, facebook locked you out and asked you about a verification code via sms? But your number was wrong, so you changed it? How?
That sounds like calling a locksmith to a foreign house for a lock replacement so your key works.
Something is missing.

Got it to log in on Vivaldi now.
Yes, we should bill them for our hard work

I had something similar happen to me at another site - I think it was autozone.com - about a week ago. I was locked out of accessing the site on Vivaldi, but Brave had no problem. In Vivaldi I deleted all cookies associated with the site, and the problem resolved. Something must have happened in V. that alarmed them.
