Import tabs from Firefox
-
Hi, I just tried to transfer all my settings, passwords, bookmarks from Firefox. Everything seems to work. However, I can't find a solution to import my tabs (117).
I have, with an FF extension, a json file with the full session but I can't find how to import it.
Do you have a solution ?
Thanks in advance. -
@salard Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Unfortunately, the sessions storage in Chromium-based browsers is very different to Firefox so this is not easily done.
A possible workaround:
- In Firefox, save all opened tabs as bookmarks in its own named folder
- In Firefox, export bookmarks as HTML
- In Vivaldi, import the file, Bookmarks HTML file option.
- Bookmarks will end up in an "Imported" folder.
- Find the named folder from above in the Bookmarks Panel, right-click and choose "Open in background tab"
- All imported tabs will open
If you don't want to import all Firefox bookmarks again (it shouldn't matter unless you've still have them all in "Imported", not recommended): Edit the saved HTML file to preserve only the folder with the tabs. Not too difficult, the structure is relatively easy to understand. See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1319392
Another possible solution, and there's probably other extensions that could do the same job:

Hello. I used the Onetab extension, on Firefox to export the tabs, then on Vivaldi to import them. It's perfect !
Thanks very much.
As you seem to master Vivaldi, would you know how to impose a minimum width for non-active tabs? I looked through the settings page several times, I couldn't find anything. At present, they are the width of the icon, it is too small to identify them. Thanks again.!

You can set the minimum width of the active tab, but not the others. It wouldn't make sense anyway - how would you fit all those tabs into the limited space of the tab bar?
I recommend you look into other ways to manage tab overload.

Scrollable tabs is probably a good solution.Personally I would go for using the Window Panel in combination with Quick Commands to find tabs. When you have that many open tabs using the regular tab bar is hopeless IMO.

https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/shortcuts/quick-commands/I also recommend looking into tab stacking to organise your tabs:

Thank you very much. I will look into the different solutions proposed.
