Sure
You need to supply Google with a cell number to enable the app passwords (as it's part of two factor authentication)They send you a text message with a confirmation number, that you then confirm with them. It's a one-time only process
After setting up the two factor authentication, you will then have an option for app passwords. Select this, and select that you need a password for your email program.
Google will then generate a password that you paste in Vivaldi's setup for gmail. This password is then used for Vivaldi only. Your webmail password remains the same. Vivaldi will then ping gmail, and the account should verify.
EDIT:
If you're a fan of having email within your browser but can't use Vivaldi for whatever reason. I just set-up Seamonkey for someone here using POP3, OAuth, and gmail with absolutely no problem. So I recommend that:
https://www.seamonkey-project.org
(it's a browser/email client combo forked from Firefox/Thunderbird before they were split apart)

To be clear, SeaMonkey does not provide email within a browser. It provides mail client joined-at-the-hip with a browser. The two, while downloaded and installed at the same time, are not integrated. You have to leave the browser to work with email, and vice-versa.

I think the fact that it does in fact work with gmail using POP3 and OAuth is while Vivaldi does not, is more to the point (honest it does, it's how I got notification of the reply). As I think the issue was more "how can I get my email?" and less "what are the exact differences between 'bolted on' and 'integrated'?"
(Also, remember those blog posts chastising Microsoft for being noncompetitive? Not to mention, providing the user base with an alternative--even if that alternative is a competitor--is always a classy move. One should always aspire to be classy, and not be Microsoft)

@jdvernet There are a couple of POP3 bugs at present which are high priority to solve. They will be solved.
That does not make SeaMonkey an integrated solution, which it is not. One might as well use Thunderbird and Firefox with equal efficiency. And if that is one's preference, then one is welcome to pursue it. I just think it's false advertising to promote SeaMonkey as a mail within a browser. It isn't, and never has been.

Uh, I'm not advertising (or promoting, or selling) anything. I'm providing user support based on my own experiences (which I thought was the purpose of this forum...)
Anyway:

If Vivaldi is:
NOT going to admit they have a problem here,
NOT going to tell when to be fixed/expected to be fixed,
i will stay with Thunderbird and not coming backI think they just did...

If Thunderbird is set to OAuth authentication, then it can receive GMails.
Can the Vivaldi mail?
Read all about it in the link aboveNo, that's the problem, Vivaldi don't work with OAuth !

@Fonzy44 Works fine here, on multiple machines, many many instances of Vivaldi installed. It simply works.
How might your setup differ from any typical one?

Oh oh, I just tested it yesterday - it worked for me right away.
-
At the moment I click on OAuth in server configuration, it begin to check then after 2 ou 3 seconds, it display (in french , sorry):
Erreur: Attributs manquants pour le serveur entrant (followed by my email adress).
When I try to see what is missing in config I don't see anything, all the fields are filled ! -
Can you show me how you configured the pop3 side on Vivaldu mail ? (don't forget to obfuscate your email to prevent spamming)

As I've stated previously both of my gmail accounts stopped working on 6-Jun. Both of the accounts were using an App Password in order to connect and had worked fine for several months.
I noticed that Vivaldi was displaying, in the status bar, that it could see emails on the server, but none needed to be downloaded.
So I decided to try the following and I now have both gmail accounts working in Vivaldi.- Installed a new standalone version of Vivaldi
- Configured one of my Gmail accounts using a new App Password.
- This standalone version started downloading the emails immediately in batches of 200.
- Once it a had downloaded the emails to about 6-Jun I closed it.
- Opened non working Vivaldi and updated the config to use the same App password.
- This Vivaldi then started downloading the email as well.
I then repeated the above with my other account and it worked again.
Note: it was only downloading the emails 5-6 at a time, but eventually it has downloaded all of themMaybe this would work for others as well.
