High CPU usage on Microsoft Surface Pro 4
-
Anyone could help me? Vivaldi loads so much CPU on Surface Pro 4 that it is impossible to continue using it. I have forcefully moved to Microsoft Edge. I run Windows 11. Also, the same hanging happens with Google Chrome browser, but Vivaldi performs worse, very slowly and almost to burn CPU resources completely.
Please help me to get back Vivaldi back. Right now Microsoft Edge works perfect and very fast and not loading CPU that much whatever number of tabs I am openning.

@balabany Would be useful to do a bug report to chromium devs from chrome. Edge must have fixed the issues for your device or applied few restricted patches which didn't share with chromium (and thus vivaldi) teams. Or you can try to enable or disable HW acceleration in settings to see if it helps. My guess is chromium totally disabled GPU acceleration while Edge patched in some way for their devices (would explain the absence of CPU spikes there).

I have uninstalled both Vivaldi and Google Chrome. If I report to Chomium devs, how it will affect to Vivaldi? I want Vivaldi was working that smoothly like Microsoft Edge, I am not Google Chrome user. If you want me for the sake of report I will download Vivaldi or Chrome and send report to devs. (How to do that?) Please tell me should I try with Vivaldi or Chrome?

@balabany if the issue is due some chromium change, on which also Vivaldi (and Edge) is based, you can get a fix on Vivaldi too with an update. You can of course do a Vivaldi Bug Report beforehand, but if the problem was originally created from chrom-ium (you said is broken on chrome too) skipping that report will slow the overall time to be fixed.

I have submitted and haven't heard from them. Usually how long it takes? I am waiting already a week.
-
@balabany Did you not get an email acknowledging the bug report? That should be more or less immediate.
As to hearing from the team after the email, you may or not not ever hear from them. They do not always contact a bug reporter and when they do, it may be within a day or a year.
-
@balabany I don't see your bug report. Are you sure you completed the report procedure?
-
@ayespy I have got automatic ticket about the bug report for sure. Unfortunately, I have removed that email. What you mean within the year? I have switched to Microsoft Edge, because it doesn't work at all on Surface Pro 4 (I guess on all models) CPU running high on every tab opening, video can't be played as computer hanging and file download is total big problem, it might overheat computer. All works on Microsoft Edge. Please check it this is all what I have submitted in ticket, I am using Windows 11, please replicate issue and fix it. I am waiting more than a week.

@balabany A week is the blink of an eye in the bug business. It is far too soon to expect anything.
Where did you report it - to Google, or to Vivaldi? Without your bug report number, there is no way to find your bug. I looked at EVERY bug report to Vivaldi in the past 10 days, and it simply isn't there - at least nothing mentioning the type of breakage you are talking about here.
I can't replicate your bug. I have no (obsolete) Surface 4 tablet. I don't know anyone who does. I don't know anyone with Surface Pro, period.
Perhaps some other user has the right hardware.
In the meantime, do you run any extensions? Have you tried with a fresh profile? Have you tried renaming your User Data/Default folder to see if the browser will run with a clean profile?

@balabany said in vivaldi broken on windows 10 surface pro 4 since 16-jun update:
