Remove bookmarks from Address Bar lookup

  • Just switched to this browser and have liked almost everything so far. The one problem I have though is that when I start typing in the address bar, the first thing that comes up is my Bookmarks. Is there anyway to turn this feature off? Thanks for any help.

    Not sure you can turn bookmarks results off completely, but in Settings/address bar you can turn off "always prefer bookmarks."

  • Just wondering if this is possible now with all the new features added in Vivaldi.

    @hasina: not yet.

  • Just about the most annoying feature ever. Try the following...

    Go to: Settings | Address Bar

    • Address Bar Options: disable "Show address popup menu when typing"
    • Address Auto-Complete: disable "Enabled"
    • Address Auto-Complete: : disable "Always prefer bookmarks"

    (This is an old post, and I'm on Vivaldi for Linux, not Windows, but I couldn't figure out how to submit a new post. Maybe this forum software is the most annoying feature ever.)

    The issue about address bar is known issue since few 1.8 snapshots back.

  • i have it off but it still auto fills it with my random bookmarked adresses.

    Thanks, disabling this option also disables the search results in the address bar. I would like to retain the search results but not the bookmarks

  • Seriously, people. Doesn't anyone besides me have porn bookmarked? It's really annoying when people come to visit and I clear the cache so that stuff like that doesn't pop up but now I also have to watch out that they don't use Vivaldi.

    Admittedly, people could dig through my bookmarks but I trust them not to do that and if they still do, I'm fine with them learning more than they maybe want to know about me. That's very different from stuff randomly popping up.

  • No edit feature in this forum any more? (Or am I just confusing this with the Opera forums... not sure...)
    Ugh...
    Please imagine that I wrote "randomly popping up as they type" in the last sentence.

  • I don't know, seems like it isn't currently possible. How about renaming your porn related bookmarks from "hardcoreXXX " to "fluffy bunny info"? Only you will know what is behind it.

    Another option would be to let guest users only run a standalone version of Vivaldi. Or you make a guest user account on your operating system and then Vivaldi has a separate default folder anyway -- your guests are using vanilla Vivaldi in this case.

  • @sh4dow don't let anyone use your pc, problem solved.

    @sh4dow
    Don't even use bookmarks for that.
    Send the bookmark as HTML or write the address to a piece of paper, of course you will be worried for these two. Keep them in safe box.
    And use private browsing at all cause.

    Cough cough... i did.
