Solved HDMI audio not working, speakers work fine
-
I cannot get audio to play from Vivaldi (5.1.2567.49) to my HDMI TV. Firefox and Waterfox have no problem playing audio to whatever device I set the output (speakers, headphones, AMD HD Audio). I can switch between sound outputs even while playing a video with no problem except on Vivialdi. It will only play on internal devices (speakers, headphones) even I start it with the HDMI device (AMD HD Audio). What can I do to get audio? Sometimes I require a Chrome browser and Vivaldi is closest I will come to that. Even the new Edge (chromium based) browser works with the HDMI output.

Haha. I had to scroll over to the right in volume mixer while HDMI was selected.... sure enough it was muted. Weird that it worked on speaker on headphones and was muted on HDMI.
Thanks for suggesting that!

@lmitchel Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
My PC (Windows 10) is connected to my TV through an AV receiver, and I have no problems getting audio to play on the AVR or directly through the TV (if AVR is off). I use the NVidia HD Audio device to output audio through HDMI.
If it works in other browsers there is no reason why it should not also work in Vivaldi.
Please post your system information from Help > About here, it might help troubleshooting.

Guest profile did not allow audio either. Will try other steps. I did close and restart Vivaldi. My tv is directly connected to the HDMI port on my laptop. Firefox is also portable version.

@lmitchel Please also try in a completely new profile, not just guest.
Have you changed any experimental flags in
vivaldi://flags
?Are you sure you've not just muted Vivaldi in the OS volume mixer? I believe it has different volume/mute settings for different output devices.

@lmitchel Hey it happens to all of us at times
Yeah app volume settings are saved per output device. I really should've thought of that first - the simplest is often the right solution
Tip - you can use this tool to view all the app audio settings per device:
