im trying to find a browser and search that somewhat functions like google 15 years ago. im self taught and have used linux mint since windows 7 updates went away. i installed vivaldi and was relitivly happy so i added gibiru and yandex still happy but have to search 2 times to make things search. i start trouble shooting changing search settings and i think i caused this it hapens when i search sorry to ask here but i have searched all over and all i can get is lots of people have this same questiun. i so miss a search that will search thanks for any help

The error
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAINbasically means your OS is unable to find the domain of the site you're trying to open. Vivaldi uses your OS to find domains, unless you've set it up with a proxy or VPN for instance, so check that.Also check all the basic troubleshooting steps:

thanks im trying to figure out what i changed i opened guest mode and it works is there a simple way to just dump all my settings and start over its so irritating 10 years ago i could search anywhere and get answers on anything im at a loos today

@seriocity If it works in a Guest profile, then it's probably something in your regular profile - have you installed any extensions for instance? I believe it's worth spending some time investigating instead of just resetting everything. The troubleshooting steps include disabling any extensions for instance.
If you want to reset, creating a new profile is probably the easiest:

Default.old, then you will start with a clean slate. -

@doctorg im not sure what you mean im using linux mint with vivaldi with gibiru search. im self taught and dont understand some of the terminology. i wiped an old windows computer clean installed linux mint 19.3 upgraded to 20.1 with the terminal and now i think im at 20.3. i do have firefox its nothing but problems but removed a version of chrome or chromium because it froze everything. i did this all through what i could find online mostly copy and paste. i could have done many things wrong along the way its just hard to find info and harder to describe a problem when i have to ask for help here and dont know what im talking about so i appologise. with all this im starting to think its not something i did directly that day just hapened at the same time

@pathduck i have it working with the search added but when i try to type in the adress bar im runing into problems i have a few extensions that could cause problems but they have been here a while with no issues i was messing with search setings so i have got to think i did something. is there anything with adding a search engine? thats all i can figure

Do you have added a special DNS server in your Linux network settings?
Open shell and run this sommand:
grep "nameserver" /etc/resolv.conf -
Do you use a web/DNS filter in your DSL modem or router?

On which domain/URL does DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error happen?
Can you please run in terminal/shell these commands each (please post output with </> button here):
nslookup vivaldi.netnslookup vivaldi.net 1.1.1.1nslookup vivaldi.net 8.8.8.8
