Small fixes for reader list and scrollable tabs – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2567.18

I love the Nightly release schedule!
-
@ruarí: That's the spirit!
BTW, Vivaldi has new … branches or forks? That picture is very intriguing… -
Thumbnail preview close buttons for stacked tabs are misaligned, and/or instead of cross/close {x}, display the site icon. Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

I don't have any issue with adding a settings button to the start page, but I will never use it so I would like to have the choice to disable it.
Yes please. Users should not need to use CSS to hide this:
Hide Start Page Settings Button /*Hide Start Page Settings Button*/ .SpeedDialView-Settings-Button {display: none;}

@ruarí
Hi, rpm install does not add the Vivaldi repository to my Opensuse Tumbleweed system since 5.1.2566.3-1, an update with rpm -Uhv to 5.1.2567.18-1 does not do either.
This was automatically added since a long time, has anything changed?Cheers, mib

After updating, I was unable to open a private window. I would just get a new window with the white screen and the Vivaldi logo. Everything else worked fine.
Closing the browser and restarting seemed to fix the issue. So maybe it is nothing. But I thought I should mention it.
Also, the startup time for the browser seems a bit slower since the previous snapshot. The browser will start up to the Speed Dial, but it will take a few seconds to populate the Speed Dial icons. This might be because I have a lot of Speed Dial icons, but still it is slower than it was.

So many frequent version number changes, & yet... sigh.

So, the reasons you can't get rid of this bug are twofold:
First, it's listed as resolved as a duplicate of your earlier bug on the same topic, which is listed as fixed. Bit of a catch-22.
Second, it's a doubling of the number 42042, giving it infinite properties.
Your best bet is to file it newly, like it never happened before.

You mean, this would be the 3rd new bug report, for the same underlying bug?

same topic, which is listed as fixed
It has been fixed, several times. But then it keeps breaking again. Atm [for months], if
fixes = N, then breaks = N+1

a Vivaldi rhyme
vivaldi vivaldi every day, I like it this way.
vivaldi vivaldi every day, makes my day.inspired by : Ancient Mariner
To be added: Yoho hoho hohohoho-2 -
@juanvase Or...
vivaldi vivaldi every night
damn its search does give me fright -
@guigirl As a rule, a regression calls for a new report.
-
@ayespy Yes, i understand that logic.
It's just so very wearying. It's been a long ride from 2015 to here, & for at least 18 months i've been unable to shake the powerful perception, if not even actual conviction, that V is depressingly Sisyphean. Not least coz for the past couple of months i've had a really excellent replacement / alternative.
Lately, the things continuing to make V unique, are either of passing or no importance to me, whilst the things of vital importance to me, remain broken, half-arsed or entirely unfulfilled... but now available elsewhere for me, with bells on.
I'll ponder another time if i have motivation to raise yet another report. Today, i do not.
-
@gif2d: I'll say. At a glance I thought there was a skeleton on it. (https://www.wpcoe.com/images/tree-skeleton.jpg)
-
-
@altcode: Can confirm. Removing an entry from one window doesn't reflect the change in another window if it was opened before that. Opening a new window and looking at the reading list there does reflect the change.
-
@wpcoe Yes, i saw it, too.
-
@wpcoe I hope that dead skeleton branch will be reanimated soon, as friday is near…

Though, does that mean that every custom search engine doesn't show the favicon?
No, it means: for some searches the icon is fetched and for some not.
I remember seeing such issue only if a search page redirected. But i do not know if the missing icon is really related to this.
