Long delay when trying to download a file
-
Same issue here. Another way to test is to find any image, right click on image, image, save as. It locks up for quite some time before I finally get the save dialog box to pick the save location and filename. Sometimes it's even enough time to open another browser, go find the same image and save it with that browser. Then some time later, when I have forgotten about it, I get a random pop-up wanting for me to save the file.
//MODEDIT: topic froked from this one

@jmcbride1983 Any security solution on your PC could slow down/lock while scanning file after saving.

@doctorg 1-5 minutes to scan 20kb on a ryzen 9 5950x with 32GB of RAM on NVMe drive? Something still sounds off and the thing is ALL other browsers work fine in the exact same situation (literally the same image from the same site). This issue is specific to Vivaldi.

@jmcbride1983 No, Minutes!?
that would be too much.
Is the download list in panel very long? That slowed down the downloads at some version last year.You can try download and reinstall of Vivaldi, there might be something broken with your installation.

@doctorg I would think the same, but it's on both of my machines and same for my wife's machine. It's not all the time though. Just tried again and it worked flawlessly. But when it happens, it gets bad enough that I just switch to Brave or Firefox and continue what I was doing.
Next time I will check the downloads and see if it even shows up. I'm sure it will happen soon. It happens at least once a day, sometimes a few times.

I've been using Vivaldi for almost 7 years and never experienced anything like this. It would be helpful if you provided sample URLs to test this, however, since you claim that it can happen for any image, my guess is that the source of the issue must reside somewhere on your side (whether it's a network issue, 3-rd party software/browser extension or an OS environment/configuration thing).
For what it's worth, try performing a basic troubleshooting, and see if you can narrow down the possible cause for this delay. Thanks!
