Problems setting up a search engine
-
First of all, congrats to the poster of this thread, nice idea.
I was trying to add "giphy.com" search, but there are no results showing up. Instead I have an error page:
Can anyone help me? (I used the suggested string here...)
Thanks.

@bettybop Works for me, make sure you got no extra spaces by mistake. Anyway, you shouldnβt need any help. As long as the search term is visible in the address field, you simply replace the term with
%s
and you are good to go. -
@luetage Thak you for replying.
But it seems to me there are no errors here:
I am not a coder or whatever, so for me it is just a mistery.

Wait! Just discovered the following:
if I highlight a word on any webpage and I use the right click menu-search with-giphy, the results are correct!
If I write any word within the address bar menu for search engines / enter, it gives back the error!Can this be helpful?
-
@bettybop The url is correct. Try to add a nickname, eg:
gf
, and use the formulagf + <word to search>
in urlbar (Unsure why nicknameless is not working, though). -
@hadden89 what you suggest works if I write it on the normal address bar.
I am referring to this search engines "window" (I do not know how it is called technically
)
When I write whatever word here, the result is an error page for me.

@bettybop Searchfield. It works that too here. No dice on why is not, there
-
@hadden89 Boh, thanks anyway. I have sent a message to "Vivaldi bug report". Let's see if they know better than me.
-
@bettybop I donβt think you will have much luck with that, it works in the search field too.

Judging by the first screenshot, some of your settings are incorrect. Make sure that you don't have the Giphy search set twice by mistake, or try it in a clean profile. For more information, please refer to the Troubleshooting issues guide.
