Website own search engine retains search history
-
Hi,
Relatively new to Vivaldi.
Is there a way to disable my search history when using a sites own search engine? For example when searching on one site, the history is retained when I click on BBC search but does not happen on all sites search engines.
Forgive me if I'm not that clear.

Do you mean the black autocomplete box that shows your previous search history when you click the search box in the site?
If so, this might help.

Thank you for that link.
The Shift and Delete action works, which I didn't know about. Is there a way automatically or just not save it?

You mean, disable Autofill globally?
Open in Vivaldi chrome://settings/addresses ans switch Autofill to Off (gray) -
Thanks!
That worked but I don't want it to be global as I still like my address info to auto populate just don't want my search history, going from site to site.

@wilpang I guess it depends on how the website's search field is built. The browser has no way of knowing if a form field is merely a search field or some kind of a form that the user fills out every now and then.
I don't think there's a way to disable the autofill on specific websites. You have two options then: disable it altogether and use Vivaldi notes to fill out the addresses forms quickly with the "Insert Note" option (that's what I use personally) or keep it enabled and delete the unwanted autofill entries manually. -
Thanks I will try that.
