Unable to drag images from Vivaldi to my desktop

When you say "place", do you mean by dragging and dropping? That's not implemented yet, but I agree it's a good request. Perhaps a mod could move this to the appropriate sub forum
I'm assuming that this is still not implemented since I'm running Manjaro KDE and not one of the Chrome based browsers allows this. A simple base feature of Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox and Chrome based browsers don't have it? There must be a addon that fixes this oversight, right? The above quoted is from 2018 and this still isn't correct in the browser from what I'm seeing.

Unable to drag images from Vivaldi to my desktop
I've seen people mention this before, but i never really understood the use-case. If the desire was to drag images from the browser page into [eg] a LibreOffice Writer doc, or into a File Manager, or into GIMP etc, i certainly see how very useful that would be. But your Subject didn't say any of those; it said the destination is the desktop. Huh? Under no currently conceivable circumstances would it be handy for me to suddenly begin polluting my desktop with stuff dragged from my browser. What obvious info am i apparently misunderstanding here, pls?

You have your way of doing thing just as I have my ways of doing things. As for "polluting my desktop" not even remotely. I like to have my browser at half screen when I'm looking for images I might want, cause it's far easier and faster to just click hold and drag and drop. I'm not going to drag each image into a viewer / editor as I find them. I like to download a handful, close the browser, review the images right from the desktop in Glenview or Kolourpaint, and then decide if I want to keep it. I can't see saving them to another location until after I decide if I actually want to keep them. All I'm saying is every browser should have this basic function.

@locutusofborg you intrigued me so I decided to try myself.
I managed to drag only files like *WebP. Other don't move. -
I can confirm this issue, it looks kind of sandbox. But just copy any image, then paste it in GIMP.
Firefox has no issue. -

@locutusofborg It works in Vivaldi 5.0 here on Windows. I can drag & drop images from the browser into the system's File Explorer (including Desktop). It doesn't work the other way around though (it's a regression since 3.0).
If it doesn't work on Linux in other Chromium-based browsers, then I'm afraid it's gonna stay like that until a solution/workaround for Linux is incorporated into Chromium itself. -
Worksforme with Snapshot.
-
@pafflick It works in MS Edge. I've just pulled several jpeg files from different sites.
-
@hectorb You run Edge on which Linux Desktop Environment?
-
@doctorg correct, in MATE.
-
And png files are also dragged normally there.

Just tested and works like a charm. Drag to desktop and get the popup menu with options like I should. I knew the code was in there.

I figured one of the devs would of weighed in on this post by now considering drag and drop to the desktop works in Snapshot as it should but not in Stable.
