Video media not playing on tweetdeck.twitter.com
-
When clicking play on a video shared on Twitter via tweetdeck.twitter.com a box open in middle of page to play video but clicking play again no media plays. I have to click on view original link at bottom which open a new tab with Twitter account. This content plays directly on tweedeck under Chrome Browser. Been like that since I started to use site in 2018 and went thru all Vivaldi version up to 5.0.
Any way to make this work like in Chrome browser?

I'm not experiencing any issues playing media on TweetDeck - it seems to work fine here (tested in Vivaldi 5.0.2497.35 64-bit on Windows 10 ver. 21H2). Have you tried any of the troubleshooting methods yet?
-
Thank you for the reply, yes I did try the basic troubleshooting:
- Browser is up to date;
- Problem tested under Guest profile;
- Vivaldi ad blocker disabled;
- 3rd party cookies are enabled;
- All the browser extensions are disabled;
- No security software are running other than integrated MS Defender;
- Running Win10 on PC
On tweetdeck.twitter.com it seems the problem appear only on a fraction of the embedded videos and I can't tell what distinguish them. I believe the Youtube embedded video always work on so do the animated gif but what appear to me as twitter embedded videos are hit or misses.
Below is a link to a tweet that has a small video clip unplayable under TweetDeck using Vivaldi. If going directly to the link below the video will play on Twitter.com however if you can add that tweet to a custom column in TweetDeck to test it that way it won't play unless clicking on view original which will load a twitter.com tab.

Thanks for following up!

@airjy I tried with the exact re-tweet that you posted a link to, and it plays fine here too: screen recording. Tested in Vivaldi 5.0.2497.48 64-bit on Windows 10 ver. 21H2, x64. Perhaps it's a video codecs issue then.
Do you have all the necessary media codecs installed?

So you are suggesting I might be missing a codec and in that case "shared" or embedded videos would use a different codec than the one on the original website since they work on the original website? I'm not sure how to test the codecs accessible via the browser I tried the website below and all video played except the AVI one.

BTW I also see the same issue on some video shared on Slack within Vivaldi, they will only play when going to original website.

@airjy The MPGEG 4 in Windows AVI format is broken on all browsers (Firefox, Edge, Vivaldi, Chromium). Issue of webserver, not a browser bug.
Web server sends this mime-type
video/x-msvideo
for video. I guess this can only be played as embedded video in older Internet Explorer. -
The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: http://demo.nimius.net/video_test/videos/test.avi
Access Denied.
no wonder it doesn't play

Again, I tried playing multiple videos from different sources through Slack (using Vivaldi) and haven't encountered any issues.

I'm only guessing, as I'm running out of ideas. The only thing I know is that it's not something we can do about, since it appears to be working correctly for other Vivaldi users.

the same issue does happen to me since at least 3 snapshots. It strangely did work back in January.
Windows 10, Radeon 7900 Series (I know its old).
The same videos play fine on the regular twitter page. -
@maxfragg Can you point out specific examples? Or is it a problem with all videos?
I just tried it in the latest Snapshot (5.2.2623.4, 64-bit, Windows 10), and videos play fine on TweetDeck here. Have you tried the troubleshooting yet? -
@pafflick I also don't quite understand it. I tryed all trouble shooting including deleting my whole profile folder and just re-syncing my account. And I feel like the issue has gotten less severe since then, but its not gone.
A example of a video would be this, note that in twitter its self it plays fine for me, only in tweetdeck (where one can't link to content) its broken.

@maxfragg That video plays fine here. Tried also a couple of others, and they all played without any issues. What Vivaldi version are you using? Does the issue occur immediately for you, or after some time of using Tweetdeck?
