Bookmarks with parameters aka 'smart bookmarks'
-
I have found a few topics mentioning 'smart bookmarks' but they did not seem to be about this feature:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_bookmark
Vivaldi has the named macros in the address bar, like "g searchterm" for Google, but there's another way to present this on the bookmarks bar ... or at least there was, 15 years ago: In Galeon, if you put "%s" anywhere in a bookmark, then on the bookmarks bar it appeared with a ยป button beside it, which revealed a text input. If you typed something in there and hit Enter, you went to that URL with your text in place of the "%s".
For example, "https://www.imdb.com/find?q=%s" โ type "batman" in the box โ "https://www.imdb.com/find?q=batman"
Just an idea, since I still miss this feature!

@vicodin
probably that's the cause, why some vivaldians have 20+ searchengine entriesI have found a few topics mentioning 'smart bookmarks' but they did not seem to be about this feature:
I think, this one is exact what you want, but not so well described: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/30059/add-smart-bookmarks
and only with one upvote -
@derday most definitely not that feature! That one describes Add Firefox-like dynamic query bookmark folders, like "Recently Bookmarked", "Tags" "Most Visited" etc.
... and I want text input boxes in the bookmarks bar for bookmarks which accept arguments. Totally different. I did search for "smart bookmarks" before posting

@vicodin
then I misinterpretedAt one time Firefox exposed queries as editable bookmarks, so community could build their own expressions to query database.
good luck

@vicodin It looks like a duplicate of Dedicated Bookmarks Folder for Search Engines (the title might be confusing, but I believe it's the same feature request).
