Pale Moon Dev/s read the tealeaves [& sense mortality?]

After Opera Presto went to join the choir invisible, & Opera 15+ proved to be nought but a sad lemon, but before Vivaldi's TP1, i tried to find solace in many alternatives, one of which was Pale Moon. I still keep PM installed, across all the OS changes since those dark days, & occasionally still fire it up just to see how its latest updates are looking [spoiler: sad, always sad].
Hence, this article today caught my eye: https://www.ghacks.net/2021/12/17/pale-moon-project-announces-change-of-direction/, from which i duly jumped along to https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27682.
Tbh i've felt rather surprised for years that this project continued to survive, albeit not flourish. Maybe i'm mistaken, but with these recent developments, i perceive the Dev/s might well be finally sensing their Use-By date materially approaching.
Clearly, there's not a homogeneity of perspective about this decision... https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27682&start=20#p222400

The poll gave the worst possible result for decision making. About a third for direction 'A', another third for direction 'B' and the final third for all the other options (where my vote went).
Reading the posts I am still unsure of the new direction, more for extensions?
Perhaps I have to add yet another browser to my pile of secondary browsers.
I do like Pale Moon in several respects and was hoping they would push on to make new advances and create a new option for users not to cater to the lowest common denominator.
But not my decision to make. -
@greybeard I just doubt the project is going to survive this, in any meaningful way.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Bigly badness afoot.

Please note that the 30.0.x release has been pulled while upstream deal with the fallout of the actions a disgruntled contributor. While there is nothing suggesting the 30.0.x releases are compromised in any way, the lead dev is understandably too busy performing damage control to support the 30.0.x release and is recommending people stick to 29.4.4 for the time being.
More details at https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28044Then, reading the expansive linked post .... this terminal decline of the project now nudges me to finally remove PM from my pooter after i dunno how many years.
Sigh. Hoomans!

How many browsers do you have now?
-
@stardust One less.
You cheeky sod.

The 'Moon is certainly looking a little Pale right now...

I still like it, though it is called White Star if you use a Mac. Moon Child was talking about integrating Mac support back into Pale Moon. Version 30 was a disaster and was not even produced for White Star. I like the Mozilla derived software that is still themeable and configurable.

I use Puppylinux, and I have used PM for years, but the Vivaldi is my main browser now. I still keep PM, and I use it for some specific sites, because I am too lazy to modify my settings. But I have a problem with sites that only want visits from the latest versions of other global browsers, and PM is not one of them.
