History does not save, have to bookmark every page
-
I don't know since when this started happening, and this is a problem that makes me want to switch browsers. I have checked in the settings that history is supposed to be saved and all that, but only a few webpages seem to show in the address bar when typing. Is this a known issue, and if so how do I fix it?

@simonrfn Can you access history through
vivaldi://history
? -
@simonrfn
Hi, to make it more clear to me, if you open vivaldi://history/ all pages you visit are saved?
For some user settings are reset to default after an update, nobody know why.
Please check your settings in vivaldi://settings/addressbar/Make sure "Include Browser History" is enabled.
Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin all of those boxes are checked along with "include frequently......" but only today's history shows when I go to vivaldi://history
-
@luetage yes, only today's history is shown

@simonrfn What’s your setting for history in
vivaldi://settings/privacy/
? -
-
@simonrfn Please answer the question instead, your picture doesn’t show it, you cut it away.
-
@luetage well, all the boxes are ticked in 'Privacy'
-
@simonrfn No, there is a »save browsing history« setting which lets you input a timespan. What is it set to?
-
@luetage six months
-
My guess - "privacy" software like CCleaner and similar that run in the background and clears history/cookies on a regular basis. Many anti-viruss/anti-malware also do this, it's important to be aware of.
-
@simonrfn Alright, this is a profile issue. But instead of starting anew you could try setting this manually.
- Check your profile location in
vivaldi://about/
- Quit Vivaldi and visit the directory, it is likely named Default, unless you are using additional profiles
- Find the
preferences
file and make a backup copy of it - Open the original preferences file in a text editor and find following string
,"history":{"days_to_keep_visits":
- Set it to
,"history":{"days_to_keep_visits":31}
for a start, save and restart Vivaldi.
While this should be safe to do, I don’t take any responsibility for loss of data. At your own risk.
- Check your profile location in
-
@pathduck This is of course a possibility. But I had none of this junk installed and my history was only kept for 7 days until I set it manually like described above. Hard to tell.
-
@pathduck only have Advanced system care and I always unticked Privacy sweep, so I guess it's not that
-
@luetage alright I will check it out, thanks!
