Cannot import passwords from FireFox
-
I have just started to use Vivaldi (Windows version). I have in mind to migrate from Firefox.
I have been trying to import my data from Firefox. I followed the instructions in the Help topic, "Import and export browser data." I have now successfully imported my bookmarks and history, but not the passwords. I've tried several times, but the passwords simply don't come across.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

@nowy08 Thanks for your prompt reply. I knew about importing a CSV file, but unfortunately my version of Firefox appears not to provide a way of exporting to CSV.
Thanks anyway,

@doctorg and @nowy08 :
Thank you both for your help. I definitely can't export a CSV file from Firefox - probably because I have an older version of Firefox which doesn't support exporting to CSV.
However, I have now discovered the reason that the import into Vivaldi failed. It was because I had set a master password within Firefox. I temporarily removed the master password, and the import then worked perfectly.
I hope this information will be useful to other Vivaldi users who come up against the same problem.

@mikemarchmont Great
By the way, you can use a tool like Nirsoft's PasswordFox or WebBrowserPassView to view and export passwords from Firefox (and other browsers), for backup purposes.
Supports exporting when master password is used - needs to be given in the options.

https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/web_browser_password.htmlI use the Chrome-specific tool ChromePass to export passwords from Vivaldi on a regular basis for backing up into KeePass.

Thanks for those links, @pathduck . I'll follow them up. (I'm already a fan of Nirsoft's utilities.)
My next step is to see if I can set up a master password within Vivaldi. I can't see any mention of that in the docs, but I feel sure it must be possible.

Nope, sorry. It's one of the most popular feature requests though:
