@guigirl I've tried this before and left software such as Gnome File Explorer or even Foxit PDF Reader running and they continue to function even if they are left open overnight.

So, next step... does this same behaviour occur with a clean/test V profile?
- No = something is corrupted in your normal profile file/s
- Yes = we dig deeper
Maybe next time, launch V from the terminal, then when you lock the pc, note the timestamp. The next day, inspect the terminal to see what if any new content has appeared since last night. Also, inspect the Linux journal from [eg] one minute before your Locked timestamp, eg:

Sorry for the delayed response. I have indeed noticed that the new profile did not freeze. I have reverted to the old profile and shall follow your instructions and report with the results.

@amqb Now that you know your problem is specific to your Default profile, not your entire V installation or your system, you might be better to simply ditch your original profile & adapt your new profile to your preferences. Otoh if you'd prefer to try to diagnose & fix the specific fault in your original one, maybe this link might help you [beware though, once it gets to this stage, a decision to proceed is an acceptance of some tedious troubleshooting & iteration].

@guigirl Thank you. I went for the easy route and created a new profile. 2 days of letting Vivaldi sit idle, it was stuck and I had to kill the process and start again

@guigirl As this is a new profile now, I think the chrome flags are reset to default, however, I have still reset the flags. As for the extensions, please see the below:

@amqb Flags exist at a higher level than individual Profiles, so merely creating a new profile alone, would have made no change to the Flags status. That you have explicitly manually reset them now is good.
Re extensions... i presume this is the identical suite of them as in your original profile? The next part of the troubleshooting is more tedium i'm afraid.
- [Sorry] uninstall all of them [yeah, i know, PITA eh?]
- Continue using V in your normal daily manner [except of course that you won't have the benefit of those extensions] for as long as all your historical experience showed you V would last before the problem occurred.
- If it lasts that long [or longer], trouble-free, it implies that one or more of those extensions is the cause.
- Reinstall one.. ONE... of them then repeat #2.
- If still ok, reinstall the next extension [ie, now you have two], repeat #2.
- Ditto ditto yada yada.
- IMO you should install that tab snooze one last; i am always deeply suspicious of all such extensions.
- If none of that helps, it'd be time to investigate possible GPU issues.
- The final step is to buy a cat.

I have a similar issue but when I just leave the browser running it rarely freezes just with that. I have a KVM switch and when I switch to another computer and then back after a while Vivaldi frontend has frozen but all other applications, including Chrome, continue working just fine.
I reported my issue in VB-84205.
