Opening Vivaldi links to give them revenue
-
I created a command to open all the sites on the home screen. I click on it from time to time. Hoping it will give Vivaldi some revenue. Is this pointless?
-
@pesk Well, you could do it a lot more easily by opening all the links in the Speed Dial, bookmark folder.
-
@pesk It's a nice thought
We just don't know how these partner deals work in practice. The way most affiliate schemes work is the user actually has to buy something on the site for the affiliate to get a cut.
According to their blog they get a "small amount" everytime it's used. Most likely this amount is very small per "hit".
I think to support Vivaldi it would be better to make a donation, buy some stuff in the shop, be active helping others on the forum, and spread the word in whatever way you can

Of course, feel free to use the default bookmarks and search engines as much as you want - but no-one is forcing you to visit Amazon or Bestbuy if you don't want to
-
@pesk Don't do that! That's called click fraud, and it's worse than pointless. It's counter-productive.
Those websites give Vivaldi money, in return for people viewing the website. If it's not an actual person looking at the site, if it's just a script: The websites won't want to give Vivaldi money for that.
In short: You're putting Vivaldi's money supply at risk.

@eggcorn Noted, won't do.
-
@pesala That takes more time though :o This is keybound to open all.

@pesk Not that this is worth doing, but for future reference, to open a folder of bookmarks quickly, assign a nickname to the folder and enter the nickname in the URL field. Shift+Enter to open them in new tabs
