Problem Big Time
It's been 3 days and I can't do anything in the browser. The pages load but only text appears. No icons, no images, no videos nothing only text. The formatting of the pages has also disappeared. Only text. I have reinstalled the browser and now I can't even login to my Vivaldi Account.
Can anyone help?! -
@preetss1219 Reinstalling won’t do anything, the application files are seldom the problem. You might want to try to reset your profile.
-
@luetage I will try it. I will post what happened. Hope it solves the problem. Thanks!

Re: Format of the webpage does not load. Only text.
@luetage I tried that it didn't work.
e.g. If I open a website, say FileHippo.com, no image loads up. The icons of softwares shown on the homepage of the site do not appear, its blank there (with a grey sqaure). However, the ads do load. -
@preetss1219 I can’t reproduce this. If you are indeed on a fresh profile, something else has to be messing with your Vivaldi install and the display of webpages.
-
@preetss1219 Did you disable the images by any chance (Menu > View > Images and Animations)? Do you use any extensions? Have you tried a guest profile?
Please also take a look at Troubleshooting issues.

@pafflick No I didn't do anything like that.I don't use any extension with Vivaldi. The browser was working fine. And then suddenly afew days ago, it crashed. When I restarted it, the problem above mnetioned started. Not even the ads & trackers blocking works. If i could send you the screenshot of the image, I would.
I have reinstalled it and done the refreshing also. -
@luetage Don't no why this is happening. It is very annoying.
-
@preetss1219 If you tried everything from the linked help article and it still shows the symptoms, then it must be something else interfering with your Vivaldi installation, such as security software (like antivirus or similar), or there are some other, obscure factors at play (like bad sectors on the hard drive, or something else).
No one else is reporting such problems with their Vivaldi installation, as far as I know. -
- Open any page where this happens (assuming all pages?)
- Press F12 to open DevTools.
- In DevTools, click Network tab on top (Might be hidden behind
>>
) - Reload page.
- Use
Alt+PrintScreen
to capture a screenshot - Share screenshot here, or by pasting it on a sharing site like https://imgur.com

@pafflick Wll, as far as Virus is concerned, I am definite that it's not the problem. I use AVG; and to be sure, I scanned it with Kaspersky too. No issues there.
As for Bad Hard Drive, I don't know hot to check it. Although I've done the DiskCheck in the Windows itself (when you go to properties and check for error). If there is anything else I can do, please suggest it. -
@preetss1219 Try disabling AVG and Kaspersky (if you're using them both side by side) and restart your PC - make sure they're not running in the background. Try also checking the Network tab in DevTools, as suggested by @Pathduck.

@pathduck
One websites works differently than the other.
In FileHippo.com, no image can be seen, although ads are visible. However, the native Ads & Tracker Blocker of the browser is on.
On YouTube.com, webpages load normally, but ads are visible, even with the blocker on. -
@pafflick
This is the problem I'm having. On one website, no images show up even though ads can be seen. On the other hand, if the website loads normally, ads are still there.
In the both cases, the native blocker of the browser is set to block both ads & trackers. No extension used.There was no problem a few days back. Vivaldi in my android works fine. On the desktop, I can't even login to sync.
-
@preetss1219 I don't understand. Those pages look perfectly fine, images and all. From your description it seemed like all web pages were broken.
So this is only about the adblocker not blocking some ads?
-
@pathduck Let me make a clear comparison.
This one if from Vivaldi (the way it is working right now).
This is how it should actually look. (Its from another browser).
Again, from Vivaldi.
How it should be.
See, all those icons and all disappear.
As I've already mentioned, some websites work, but many look like this. -
@preetss1219 Yes, but the pictures you posted did not look like that?
Please post images from sites where you actually have the problem, showing the Devtools Network log.
-
I have posted the actual look of the websites vs how they open up in Vivaldi.
This is with DevTools for the same.Looking forward to your solution.
-
@preetss1219 In first image the web page's stylesheet all.css does not load on from the site (=red entries in dev tool's network log).
-
@preetss1219 OK, so you have many failing (red) requests in the log, this is the reason the pages don't load. Something on your system is stopping those requests from finishing.
Click on one of the red failing requests and copy the text from the Headers section, or make a screenshot if that's easier for you.
