Website shortcuts. Change icon and not opening immediately
-
Hi, I have put website shortcuts on my desktop
All the icons are the red Vivaldi style and not the ones for the website. ie Netflix is just a Vivaldi icon.
How do I get the original ones back?
Also when I click to open, it opens a security warning box: do you want to open this file? etc!

I would like to click the icon and it opens immediately
Your help will be appreciated, but please use short words

I have dragged the site info icon to the desktop to create the shortcut

There is a bug in Vivaldi currently which creates the .url files on desktop with a wrong End Of Line marker (Linux style LF instead of Windows style CR+LF), you can fix them opening the .url files in Notepad++, open the files in %userprofile%\desktop, menu Edit/EOL Conversion/Windows (CR LF) and saving the file. If the Windows option is dimmed it means the EOL is already correct.
This is a very simple fix they should apply but apparently it's not considered a major bug and gets ignored since months. -

Hi Ian,
I appreciate your reply.............and understand up to notepad++ (which I have downloaded).
From then on it's a bit like Chinese writing
However, whilst trying to work out what you mean, for some reason I right-clicked the icon, then properties, and then the general tab
At the bottom it says security and there is a box to tick
That seems to have done the trick
Though the icons are still the red Vivaldi 'V' and not the original one
Hope that helps

If you right-click on the icon in the window tab and choose "Create Shortcut." It will create a shortcut on the desktop with the correct favicon. Kludgy but it works.
