adding a fb messenger web panel
-
Is it possible to get a 1-click web panel that opens fb messenger? I just use fb messenger and would like to avoid the fb site altogether.
There was something like this in opera.
I'm very grateful to the Vivaldi developers for making the best browser out there, it's a gem that took me many years to realize that it was there.

Yep, it's possible.
- Add
messenger.com
as a web panel. - Right-click on the web panel's icon and choose "Show desktop version".
- (Optional) Right-click on the web panel's icon and choose "Separate width", so that you can change the panel's width without affecting your other panels.
- Enjoy

I didn't realize messenger has a website. Your method worked, thank you for helping me.
I may just do it as a bookmark instead, now that I know, I'll do some testing. The only web panels I use are notes (so good) and downloads atm.

@komposten Tried this but would not work for me. Actually have tried before, No site requiring a log-in seems to work (Mastadon, Discord, fb, Messenger).
Vivaldi 4.1.2369.10 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision 6fb215ec054613570bf29abaca6fc17ec3270425
OS Windows 10 OS Version 2009 (Build 19043.1151)Have always been on the Snapshot version.

@greybeard have you right clicked the panel and switched from mobile to desktop view?
Discord was working but kept logging me out when using the panel so I have that in a pinned tab instead

I haven't tried it for an extended period of time. I only set it up for a few minutes to ensure it would work before posting my reply above. I do use both Slack and Teams as web panels, though, and have never had any issues with those.
I also only use Snapshot.

@wildente Yes, desktop view.
Will have to try it as 'pinned tab'. You may be right that it would better. -
