Links Open in Edge Instead of Vivaldi
-
Vivaldi is my default browser. But Windows is still opening some links in Edge instead of Vivaldi. How do I fix that?
Edit: Here's an example: Go to "Power Options" in the Control Panel (not Settings, the Control Panel). Click the link "Tell me more about power plans". That opens in Edge, even though my default browser is Vivaldi.

@eggcorn check if Windows knows what's best for you. Hit the start button, type "default apps" and open the default apps settings page, check if Vivaldi shows as your default browser.
-
@wildente I checked that page, Vivaldi is listed as the default browser. But as I said, some links still open in Edge.
-
@eggcorn what do you mean with "some links"? can you give an example where that happens?
-
@wildente I edited my original post to give an example.
-
@eggcorn ah that's windows not wanting you to use anything but their stuff. Just googling I found this but didn't try because it seems to require installing another program.

@eggcorn Why didn't you say that in the first place? You think everyone can just magically guess what you mean? Being specific and informative helps save yours and other people's time...
And no, I don't think those links can be changed to open in anything else than Microsoft's chosen browser.

I have also managed to delete Microsoft Edge Chromium.
-
@stardepp Delete Microsoft Edge Chromium? What are you talking about?
-
@eggcorn I have deleted the folders of microsoft Edge by Edge was installed. Now it does not launch at all in Windows.
-
@stardepp Does that cause links (such as the link in the example I gave) to open in the default browser? Or does that just cause them to not open at all?
-
@eggcorn Besides uninstalling Edge, I also installed EdgeDeflector.

But being too verbose doesn't. Being so specific, and including so much detail that your question gets lost, doesn't save anyone time.
I find it works better to ask a simple short question first. And the people who reply, they can tell me what information they need to answer my question properly. If I try to guess what information they need ahead of time, and turn my simple question into a paragraph: Things get confusing.

Windows 10 by default uses Edge to access MS help pages, if it is called from the control panel, yes or yes, because the link pointed to Edge with the URL of the article. You can disable Internet Explorer in 'Turn Windows features on and off', but Edge does not appear in this list.
On the other hand personally it is not worth uninstalling Edge for this, since I never use the MS pages as a help and it is only there that it happens that it opens in Edge.
If necessary, you will find this MS page also with Vivaldi, searching for it on the net. -
