Dissociate feeds from mail
-
The association of feeds with mail is apparent in the current Vivaldi. For instance, the window title while looking at feeds reads "mail." Huh?
News feeds are not email. The two are distinct. Make them so.

Vivaldi offers a "Feeds" view, accessible from the panels, which will allow you to see individual RSS Feeds on their own, without the distraction of Mail. However, the Mail view by default includes Feeds as well. If you would prefer to keep them separate, this is easy to change: Just open the Mail view, and turn off "Show Feeds". This is toggled by clicking the "RSS" icon in the top bar:

Thanks for the reply, which did not make sense to me. "Open the mail view": how is that done? "RSS icon in the top bar": what top bar?

@garyo said in Dissociate feeds from mail:
"Open the mail view"
It means open the mail client.
what top bar?
The tool bar on top (or bottomβ¦) of the mail client (the one that replaces the address bar when you're on a mail tab).

Very sorry if my instructions were unclear; I was a little rushed when I wrote them. Hopefully @hlehyaric has offered enough clarification for you

Just coming from this thread, and wanted to add the following:
- Feeds don't have a "sender" (they are fetched directly from the site which generates them), and cannot be replied to.
- I don't think there's currently a way to prevent new feed items from being shown as unread in the "all messages" view in the mail tab (see screenshot. There is no e-mail acount configured in this case -- that "4" refers to feed items, and I can't make it or the "Feeds" line go away)
- As @guigirl pointed out in the linked thread, new feed items should not be indicated in the status line as if they were e-mails.
- Having to go through a larg-ish number of settings to remove feeds from the mail view can get tedious and runs the risk of either overlooking something or accidentally hiding something from some view that should not be hidden -- so a simple switch ("show feeds in mail view"), or a mail-only panel (which can then be shown instead of the mail & feeds panel) would be welcome since it's much quicker and cleaner to configure.

I'm having a similar problem with removing RSS feed counts from the Email count.
I tried to find all the areas to disable the feeds section as demonstrated in the attached screen grab, but still the number pops up in the email section. I even tried restarting the browser, but the problem persists. -
- Open the Mail Panel
- Right-click, and from the Views menu, disable Feeds and Mailing Lists
- Select the Unread or Received folders, and above the list of email messages there is a button with a tooltip saying Show Feeds. Click that to hide feeds from the mail folders.
Right-click the Panel Toolbar to ensure that the Feeds Panel has a checkmark next to it.
Now, you can view your Feeds in the Feed Panel, without them showing up in the Unread count or anywhere else in the Mail Panel.

Thank you for the reply.
I missed the icons at the top. Thanks!
