how to disable App Links feature?
-
I want to disable the feature of Vivaldi for Android that makes Vivaldi open the native application, meaning the Android application, when I try to open the Web version of the same application, such as Google Sheets. I created a script for Google Sheets that adds a new menu with three new commands, one of which I use almost every day in my personal budget/cashflow spreadsheet, but I can only use this script in the Web version of Google Sheets because the Android version of Google Sheets seems to not support user scripts. Apparently the feature I need to disable is called App Links. I found this article:
https://krispitech.com/pixel-stop-links-opening-apps/
but the instructions did not work for me. Or maybe they worked for Google Chrome for Android but I would not know because I use Vivaldi. I posted a comment on that article as soon as I tried the instructions in the article but before I had tested the change. I have looked through all of the settings in Vivaldi on Android and have searched the Internet and this forum but have not found anything more.
If it matters, I currently (since early 2019) use the official distribution of Android 8 on an LG G5, specifically the LG-H831 variant for Canada, from Fido in Canada but I switched from Fido (Rogers Wireless) to Lucky Mobile (Bell Mobility) in 2019. I live in Metro Vancouver, Canada. This is my first post to this forum but I have used Vivaldi since near the beginning and participated in the My Opera forum before it was shut down.
Thank you for reading my post.

Update 2021‑08‑10: The “stay in browser” feature introduced by Vivaldi 4.1 seems to be the solution to my problem in my very limited testing so far but it seems strange that this problem existed in the first place because it seems like opening a link in a native application instead of opening a link normally in the Web browser requires adding a special case/a conditional to the software so it seems strange that this special case was always enabled instead of being configurable at runtime from the beginning. Was the addition of this feature connected to this topic? I ask because the release that adds this feature came around twelve days after I posted this topic to request this feature. In any case, thank you for making this behaviour configurable instead of forcing it on all users.
