Reddit Enhancement Suite extension not working
-
Hi all.
I'm new to Vivaldi and wasn't sure if this question should be aimed at RES or Vivaldi so I'm starting here because I don't know much about the browser and I saw another RES related post here.
The extension installs cleanly, doesn't show any errors in the Dev Console that aren't also there in Chrome. If I enable/disable the extension it appears to have no effect. By all accounts the extension looks to be enabled & configured.
Is there something else that must be done to enable / allow extensions in Vivaldi?
Vivaldi 4.0.2312.41 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Revision 08924348d4b2ee3ae09abb1c9f1ce83300c32d12 OS Windows 10 OS Version 2009 (Build 19043.1110) JavaScript V8 9.1.269.39 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/91.0.4472.166 Safari/537.36
and I'm using RES: 5.22.5

@otherdavey Just installed it, seems to work for me. Top right new buttons are being shown, which let me access the RES options and a bunch of other stuff.

@luetage Thanks for testing it out!
I do see the RES options & things no the top right, but the RES functionality that alters the appearance of Reddit doesn't seem to be working. I still have the "center column" layout, I can't collapse comments etc... It looks like the only thing it did was to add the RES options there.
I tried exporting my settings from Chrome and importing them into Vivaldi but while it said it was successful, it didn't change anything.

@otherdavey You said initially you see nothing and you wondered whether it installed. Missing functionality with running extension is another thing altogether. I’m not sure about RES, does it make a difference enabling old reddit?
-
@luetage Wow, that was it! (old reddit)
I'm sorry about the confusion and really appreciate your help figuring it out.
I'm so surprised that was it - chrome, opera and firefox all looked like "old reddit" but Vivaldi was definitely different. Opting out of new UI and going back to Old Reddit solved the problem!

@luetage I'm trying to limit my extensions. Are extensions the only way to go for Reddit? If so, IYO what's the best extension working w Vivaldi? Thank you.

@janrif You don’t need an extension, just visit the site ☛ https://www.reddit.com.
