Vimium: Opening a link in a new tab and switch to it
-
Hi.
I installed Vimium and configured the following custom key
mapping in the Vimium Options page:map <a-z> LinkHints.activateModeToOpenInNewForegroundTab
On other browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox, this configuration opens links in a new tab (as expected).
However, in Vivaldi, this configuration opens links in a new window.
I looked at the Settings page in Vivaldi, but can't seem to
find any settings that might cause this unexpected behavior.Has anyone encountered this issue? And how to resolve it?
Thanks

@andrewkl I can confirm this. I don’t think there is anything Vivaldi can do about it. You can report it on the Vimium Github page and ask nicely whether they can look into it. For the time being the possible workarounds are:
- Opening the link in a background tab instead
LinkHints.activateModeToOpenInNewTab
. - Cloning the tab (existing Vivaldi command, no need to use the Vimium version) and then opening link in current tab.
- Copying the link URL
LinkHints.activateModeToCopyLinkUrl
and creating a command chain to open this link in a new foreground tab (snapshot required).- New Tab
- Sleep
Parameter: 100 - Focus Address Field
- Paste and Go
- Opening the link in a background tab instead
