(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

I like the number of elements being shown in bookmarks. I'd actually prefer seing the number of bookmarks.
difference:
Folder A- bookmark x
- Folder B
- bookmark y
- bookmark z
Number of elements in Folder A: 2. Number of bookmarks in Folder A: 3
Maybe a configurable setting. Numbers can be cached for performance reasons.

Is the email client still in development? Last time I used Vivaldi it was in the panel (albeit it didn't do anything), but now it just isn't anywhere.
-
Right now its impossible to add bookmark between folders with URL D&D.
This… the one thing I'm missing. In Opera one could take a tab and drag it into the depths of the bookmarks tree...
In Vivaldi I still have to use the add bookmark dialog which is a bit messy as it lacks visualisation of folder structure.
Which is a pain if you have hundreds of folders.I'm waiting bookmark menu button with tree folder structure (Opera 12 has one) with improved D&D to add bookmarks.
Like this Firefox killer feature: -
I would simply like to second the for a context menu on bookmarks,
When right-clicking on a bookmark in the toolbar, a context menu appears, When right-clicking on a bookmark in a bookmark folder in the toolbar, Vivaldi acts as if it was a left mouse-click.
Not sure if the lack of menu is a design decision, but the left-click response seems to be a bug,Michaedl

Yes. It's predicted to be added in the first version following this one - so somewhere in the next series of snapshots I expect it to appear.

Hi all,
first of all, thanks for this amazing browser.Second of all, something that I believe it would be extremely useful and I don't know if it is already a feature or not (searching the forum was tough) is:
- Is it possible to open a new tab/link in the same stack? That would be a huge feature.
Thanks a lot!
-
Strongly need Close tab to the right feature
-
My request is similar to the one below.
Something quite usefull for me in Opera is the combination of:
a) The use of session cookies only. & b) Setting exceptions to the rule (cookies to keep at end of session)Yes! This is the most critical missing feature for me too, or is it a bug? As from clicking the "Site info" from address field and then "Site settings" you can set exceptions to cookie behaviour but the exceptions just aren't taken into account!
My use case is to keep the cookies completely disabled except for the sites I have given the right to store either session cookies or permanent ones.- Missing 'properties' entry in right-click context menu. This one can be worked around with a chrome extension, but since vivaldi's goal is to be full-featured, it would be lovely if this could be brought back natively.
- I can't find any way to quickly toggle my proxy on and off. I use a proxy for most of my browsing but I frequently toggle it on and off for various reasons. Vivaldi doesn't seem to support this use case.
- I can't find an option to always delete my browsing history upon browser startup/shutdown. Vivaldi also keeps asking me if I would like my passwords for various logins to be saved, and I don't see an option for "never ask, for any site, ever". I prefer to browse with persistent cookies but essentially no history or other preserved data - so private windows aren't really a solution to this problem. More granular control of privacy settings for normal windows would be very nice.
These too are important features that are missing. Especially the disabling of the password manager.
One more thing is that if I disable the close button from the tabs, it should appear to the upper right corner of the window/tab like in classic Windows apps (ie Opera 12).
-
Some of the requests I see is already posted, but I'm adding mine anyway;
- Context menu on bookmarks (mainly for removing bookmarks)
- Ability to search in the password menu (I don't always remember my passwords and the auto-suggestions doesn't work all the time)
- Ability to view saved passwords (again I don't always remember every password)
- Search bar in the speed dial
- Ability to make the search bar next to address bar larger/smaller (edit: forget this, just realized it's possible)
- Choose how long history is saved for (days / weeks)
- Choose how much cache (in MB) from images etc is stored locally
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :cheer:
-
drag n drop tabs to new window would be a nice addition
-
There are 2 things that are currently keeping me from moving to Vivaldi:
- Being able to resize tiled tabs.
- Hiding all scrollbars.
Both of those are important in order to maximize the amount of space each site takes.
Thanks in advance! :cheer:

Do not shrink pinned tabs.
-
Allow move pinned tab on Tab Bar (Pinned tab, unpinned, unpinned, pinned, unpinned, …). I use pin tabs only for not-closing them and I use one pinned tab as first tab and second as last tab on Tab Bar)
-
This is crucial - make a anonymous tab, not only anonymous window.
-
Session manager: If I name new session same as older session and save it, I want dialog to replace old session with same name, not make new files (1), (2) and etc.
-
Private Tab and Private Windows should have another icon i System Bar in Windows (other OS) and little bit other GUI OR colors orrr. something more than miniature icon in adress field.

It may be there, but I haven't found it yet. Is there a way (and if not, then this is a feature request) to turn off the align to grid for the bookmarks on the start page. I'd like to align them in a way that makes sense for me on the start page.
Not just turn off the align to grid, but allow me to put them anywhere on the start page the user wants.
TIA–

-The ability to use mouse buttons, or at least extended mouse buttons in keyboard shortcuts would be very nice
-Create a new window by dragging a tab out of the tab area (default in chrome and firefox)
-
Big wish:
- Email & RSS-Client
- Sync of the whole Vivaldi profile to use one profile on different machines or platforms
- Auto-Refresh in web-panels (maybe it is possible to modify auto-refresh for each panel)
mediocre wish
- Drag & Drop web-panels
minor wish
- changing backgrounds after an amount of time
- Bookmark bar placed on the left or right
-
I would like to see two new features right now
-
I would like to see a memory saving mode. I am a tab lover, so i love the ability to stack tabs, but I would like to see something that make tabs not be running in active memory (the tab would still be open, but wouldn't be loaded into memory until clicked on. This would be an optional feature for memory hogs like me).
-
I would like to see more themes and the ability for users to submit themes for use (i.e. other colors, backgrounds and movement of settings). These themes would show up in the official themes for people to pick. It would also be cool for easy editing of a theme by the user.

Great Browser!!! Thanks for continuing the opera saga.
[ul]
- 1. Pressing enter while searching should open the Link (if it's a link). Opera had this… Pleaaaase do this
.
- 2. Mouse middle click on an empty area in the top bar should open a new tab (opera)
- 3. Dragging tabs in a new window
- 4. when the dynamic color chosen from the webpage is too close to the normal inactive tab color it should be changed to the standard red. No way of identifying the active tab like this.
[/ul]
- 1. Pressing enter while searching should open the Link (if it's a link). Opera had this… Pleaaaase do this

My big wish is that I could use cmd+ <num>to go to a specific tab. So that cmd+2 would let me go to the second tab that's open. cmd+0 should go to the last tab and cmd+9 should go to the 9th.
I use this a lot and it's my one issue with Vivaldi so far.</num>

I'm trying out Vivaldi for the first time today. Great work! I really like most everything about it and I love the look of it, but I have one feature request that would seal the deal for me to switch from Firefox:
Feature Request
Please share the search field content between all tabs instead of each tab having its own search content. A common scenario for me is that I refer to content on one page as I'm typing in my search query into the box. I then Command+T to open a new tab and hit return to actually do the search. I can't do that in Vivaldi. Thanks!
