(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

I would love to see a "Bookmark Organiser" of some kind, to make re-organising bookmarks a little easier, and for more obvious "import" and "export" section.
From the top of the Speed Dial page choose Bookmark. It's incomplete but working. I hope to see it develop rapidly since bookmarks are a high priority for me.
-
"Don't remembering tabs" setting. Moreover it should be easy, the difficult thing is "remember tabs" and you have already done it!

@Miraculix:
Until today I still use the old Opera 12, as it is the only browser with email client included. Additionally it can be used with almost no keyboard command. Therefore i am so happy to have heard of Vivaldi! The new Opera just sucks, as it is as inovative as JOBs: Just other Browsers!
Vivaldi is missing the "insert link and open webpage" function. Very often I just copy I lay relaxed in bed, laptop on the belly and too lazy to move my left arm, while the right hand is on the mouse I can copy words and search for them via google (Opera: right-click in adress bar and insert linkt and go to".I am looking forward for the mail client, then I will uninstall Opera!
Just curious about why you like your browser to have an email client. Is it because it's free or is there another reason?
I'd just like to know out of interest. I prefer to use outlook in my Microsoft office package and have never liked it in the
browser. So I really am interested to know if there is a reason someone would like a client in their browser other than
not having access to software like Outlook etc. Thanks -

why bother reply?
There could be another reason someone likes the client in their browser., If there is I'm just interested to know what it is. We all like to do things out own way, so I wanted to know if there was a reason I've never seen other than it's free.
So really why be a smart ass and say "They are poor?" People who have Office my like a browser based E-mail client and there may be a reason for it. There for my interest is in what that reason is. Just because I don't like them and do use them don't mean other people don't too you Smart ass!!

I like email in my browser for two reasons.
-
A single click on my taskbar and my "office" is looking back at me from the display.
-
When properly implemented, as it was in classic Opera, I can see mail, web, and bookmarks all at once, and a single click gives me focus on what I need. I work left->right and back again, all day, taking assignments from my email, performing them using the browser, and submitting the finished work using email in a continuously repeating cycle. The way this woks best is email pane open on the left, web or the email I am reading or composing in the middle, and tabs and most commonly used bookmarks on the right. It's comfortable, it's efficient, and its ergonomic.
It also happens that the old M2 database system was the most robust of any client going. It generated the fewest problems with corruption, etc.

I am new to the Vivaldi community and experienced a significant sense of relief at finding it today. I had been a loyal
user and vocal prosthelytizer for Opera. I started with it in version 2. I felt extreme sadness, loss and anger as I watched
Opera being hijacked by a development team that seemed to have never used a browser, to less the wonderful Opera.
Several years ago I stopped following the Opera boards after my voiced outrage and disbelief fell on deaf ears. I
receded into my own world with Opera 12 as my default browser. As its inability to function grew , I supplemented it with
Chrome and Firefox as needed ( and resented the need every time I did). Opera is still my default browser but limping
along. So I felt actual joy today when I discovered that the originators of Opera have come to the rescue with the
building of Vivaldi. That said I am hoping the dev team is monitoring the forums and will hear two items on my wish list. Two of the
wonderful and numerous features from "classical" Opera that I would hate to not see resurrected are- Mouse Gestures. In reading the forums and preview information, it seems that "Quick Commands" might be replacing
Mouse Gestures. I think a rich use of the keyboard is a great idea, yet for me ( for physical reasons I will not go into) my
mouse is a very necessary input device. Please save the mouse. - Sessions. I do not understand why with all the features I see being called for return, I do not see Sessions mentioned.
It was and is a critical tool for me. Is the Notes function meant to replace it? Will Notes allow me to gather multiple tabs
under one heading for future retrieval? If not PLEASE think about Sessions as a fundamentally important function to restore.
With the same gratitude I felt for the creation of the original Opera, I thank this development team for their great effort
and generosity. - Mouse Gestures. In reading the forums and preview information, it seems that "Quick Commands" might be replacing

Please add bittorrent in the next Versions.
Its a very important feature for me.thanks!
-
My current priorities:
General
- Open closed tab with Ctrl + Shift + T / Command + Shift + T
- Pin tab
- Inspect Element fixed on the page (currently it's in another floating page)
- Close button goes to Speed Dial when there's no other tab left
Mac
- Alt to change fullscreen button to maximize
-
Like with Opera 12, I would really like the option of choosing which tabs becomes the active tab once a tab is closed, either the recently used tab or the tab to the right of the current active tab.
I noticed right now, the browser implements the first one. But personally, I prefer the second one, when closing a tab, the tab to the right of it will be the active tab. For example, I have tab A, tab B and tab C. When I close tab B, tab C will automatically be the new active tab. This is so that I can close a bunch of tabs in order especially when using CTRL+W and not accidentally close a tab or tabs that I want to keep open.As for tab switching (tab cycling order), the recently used tab setting is just fine (CTRL+TAB). But I prefer, when I'm still holding on the CTRL key, it will cycle through my open tabs from left to right, and right to left when pressing on CTRL+SHIFT+TAB. The current implementation is that even if CTRL is still pressed, tabs are still being cycled through the most recently used.
I still got TONS of feature requests, but I'll save those for later.

This a list I did using the Vivaldi since the first TechPreview. Some items in
strikeare items that were added into browserMY FEATURES:
-
a Window/Tab Panel, like in 012
-
an "remove all" option for the trash entries.
-
a session manager
-
when I clicked on a process tab of the task manager, I were to the tab, as the O15+ task manager
-
the discription field could be bigger when I add a bookmark and/or I could use a shift+ENTER to do paragraphs. I just can do it when I am editing the bookmark in the Bookmark Manager
-
pinned tab
-
don't matter if you have 50, 100, 200 or over tabs, all the tabs should fit themselves (and visible) on the tab bar, that way i can click on all, like this was in O12.
-
open a a link (in background) next to active tab
-
"ask where saves a file" option
-
save a bookmark like in a "unsorted bookmark" folder
-
RSS reader
- Back (<) and Advance (>) list buttons (when u press the mouse on the Back Button it should show a list of previous sites of the tab. -
When you hover the mouse on a tab, it shows fully the site title and not one part of it.
-
Add the "past and go" option when you copy a word/url into address bar
-
PDF reader
-
Keep me logged on the sites
-
Option of loading just the active tab of a session
-
A "discription"/Note field for Contacts, like O12, I added some info of contacts I have and it would be great for me.
-
The Facebook tab shows new notificantions when I am with new PM (on other browsers there is this notification)
-
Opera Voice, it helped to improve my listening/speaking in English, helps who can't read a text and it can be extended to other languages. The community could help offering the own voices to the project.
-
Localized bookmarks. Like in O12, if you are an brazilian, for example, when you install the browser you would see the bookmarks have brazilian sites for "Technology" (Techtudo), "Sports" (Trivela, ESPN), "Travel" (Decolar.com), "Shopping" (Mercado Livre, OLX) and etc.
-
Add "Edit" and "Move" right-click mouse options/keyboard commands for bookmarks (folders)
-
Add custom buttons like in O12 to customize the browser like the user prefers (UI customization, drag'n'drop those buttons into sidepanel or into addressbar)
-
Import/export options (from/for IE, O12, Chropera, Chrome, Safari, Firefox and maybe other browsers in future; bookmarks/speed dials, passwords, sessions, history, note, search engines, extensions)
-
"Vivaldi" Link. Sync'ing bookmarks/speed dials, passwords, sessions, history, note, search engines, extensions)
-
Chrome Web Store extensions support (like the SWRare Iron browser and similars)
-
A Sharing Button to share links you are accessing at the moment to Facebook, Twitter and similars.
-
The "Bookmark All The Pages" option could ask us in which folder we would like to save them or create a new one.
-
A "Speed Dial" button at side the "Home" one, like in O15+.
-
The Extension Bar could be rearranble, in the other words, you can reorder the extensions positions
-
In Download Panel, shows the download info (the time/date when the file was download and where it was saved)
-
"Show image properties" in right-click menu.
-
Site preferences
-
Windows/tabs, History, Links and chat panels (and own tabs for each one).
-
private windows/tabs
-
Change the "Sound Notification" icon for the O15+ icon that is movimented and this helps to identify the tab.
- A "Desktop Blog" with the latest news about the Vivaldi Browser -
content blocker built-in
-
"Close all the tabs at right/left" right-click menu option
- Password Manager -
Vivaldi "Turbo"
-
CTRL+TAB to go to next tab
-
A "Show Passwords" option in Password Manager
-
Configure the SD thumbnails size and the number of SDF
FEATURES FROM OTHERS I SUPPORT:
@kayrus
Add "Download URL" text field into download tab. It will help to download files with invalid mime types.
5) Show load status in % inside the status bar.@al3xst
– When using many tabs, they get smaller and smaller until u can't even see the favicon -> in firefox the tabsize never changes and you can scroll through them (also add this in vertical mode please^^)- History Panel
- Possibilityt to choose and change the image associated with the bookmark entry. (like the +O15)
- Ability to select text in links
- Please add search suggestions in address and search bar
- automatic re-load page after x minutes
- open sites from speed dial using Ctrl+number
- Option to show the full URL
Backward and Forward button: I think there is a problem. In old opera, when I hold left mouse on Backward or Forward button it will show a list like this
http://i.imgur.com/0PZNpEI.jpg
- Order search engines
@Vexal
- Possibility to choose where to start (start page, speedial, last session)
- Bookmarks: should be sorted folders first, then by name
- Also bookmarks: one-click opening of folders/bookmarks as in O12, currently needs double-clicks
- Bookmarks should open in new tab by default (or at least an option to choose behaviour should exist)
@dmarciano
1. With Tab Stacking, instead of having to click "Remove from tab stack" or "Dissolve tab stack" it would be nice if when you see the small preview's all of all the windows if you could simple drag-and-drop them to separate them
2. With individual tabs (or tab stack) if you could drag a tab to have it become a separate window. Related to this, would be nice if you could drag tabs between separate windows and have them attach/detach
3. Profiles - I like to have a profile for work and one for personal use that has separate settings, bookmarks, etc.
The final thing isn't a feature request, just a typo I noticed. The button to dissolve a tab stack is spelled "Disolve Tab Stack" instead of "Dissolve Tab Stack". -

- Indeed sorting.
- I thought I liked one-click opening as per O12 but am starting to like the Vivialdi double-click or click-enter key because click-enter means I make fewer slips (I have a disability and am not precise with the mouse). I'd like to see the click method optional.
- Sometime I want the bookmark to open in the current window so would like this to be optional.

RRR13: Anyone can see from this thread you are a troll. Don't go around talking shit about other members…... I think maybe you have issues mate. Go see a psychiatrist.

Glass Houses, Charm3d. And, "As ye reap, so shall ye sow."
" Most you guys are probably running illigal downloads of 32bit Xp and are to cheap to actually buy your software." Sound familiar? Don't talk shit about other members, and they will not talk shit about you. K? K. And RRR13, a definite contributor to the forums, is anything BUT a troll.

Birds of a feather and all that Ayespy..
That is actually valid what I siad. Most people use pirate versions of windows because they think they deserve to have it free.
I chose to pay for mine. I feel if you are using it every day then you are getting your moneys worth. So as for your remark it's invalid. I have not attacked an individual so I believe your intelligence is that low you cannot see the difference!!
So now I have. -

So now I have."I have not attacked an individual…" he said, immediately before once again attacking (this) individual. You have repeatedly attacked the intelligence, competence and honesty of individuals. And those whom you are attacking are quite obviously intelligent, competent and honest. In my particular case, I'm only an advanced user with an IQ of 155 or so, professionally engaged in things like ensuring fidelity and integrity of the legal process - so perhaps I'm an ideal target for your insults - yeah? Certainly I'm no IT pro, but I can build, test or repair a system in my sleep.
As to "Most people use pirate versions of Windows..." I challenge you to prove that. I don't know anyone who does, and I have ten fully paid copies in this house, two of which are for computers I've already switched to Linux in order to extend their lifespans. So, yeah. Totally pirating stuff, here, and going for all the freebies possible (in spite of having offered, on these very forums, to pay for Vivaldi as well if it came to that.) You don't seem to know when you're overmatched.
Edit: I fully realize piracy is huge in Russia and China. I don't live in Russia or China, and there's no reason why anyone would believe I did.
-
I'm a computer technician mate.. It's overwhelming how many people run pirate windows and other software.
BTW. I'm in Australia.. Where you get your info from is completely wrong. Piracy is not only a problem in china
and Russia. Try world wide. I've been running forums for wow 20 years now and i see how many people download
software. I'm not immune to it.Well I download all my T.v. shows and watch them when I please. If you say you don't pirate anything there is a 99.99%
chance you are a lair, Dishonest, and full of ( ) well you can fill in the blanks. -

Features that I want
- can disable search field between address field
- can disable bottom bar
- can disable left buttons between address field (back, forward, reaload, homepage - never used them, for this is mouse gestures)
- keystroke Ctrl+B for Paste&Go
- finding text on page via only writing or via only button key (".")
- old Opera WAND features (login via Ctrl+Enter, pressing mouse left+right button, pressing right mouse button and mode to right)
- edit SpeedDial look (better 16:9 like images than thi 4:3 like
)
- feature for manually add informations for offering this in text fields (e-mail addresses, addresses, phone numbers etc. - also like old Opera, not like new Opera, Chrome…)
Thanks for considering that
