(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
Hi, I have been introduced to the Browser a few days ago and regularly use Chrome and Opera.
Two features which I would really appreciate (I know there are extensions for it, but):
- Integrated AdBlock
- Integrated VPN
These are two features which I really like about Opera and I think the feature package already included in Vivaldi is great, but these two things could really make it my overall favorite web browser!
-
dont play gif (or webm) images, while they are offscreen (like in opera 12). or add "replay" button in right-click menu on it.
-
Hide Vivaldi
Please add a "hide Vivaldi" feature like it has been in Opera 12.
I'd like to use Vivaldi at work and I really do not want my boss to see what I'm doing.
Please make this adjustable in the settings.
In Opera 12, the standard keyboard shortcut was "Ctrl + h" which I changed to "Ctrl + y" ,
the "h" is to far away from the "Ctrl" keyI have always been an Opera fan and still keep using Opera 12.
With Best Regards and Respect

Dear Vivaldi Team,
The Browser is very good, but I suggest a new feature. I'm using two monitor for my computer, and other browsers have that if i grab an opened tab, and i pull it to my other monitor, a window with that URL will appear. In Vivaldi, I cant pull it to the other monitor, I can just change the order of the opened tab in the current window.
I think it would be a very useful feature.

On the "Start Page", instead of it just taking a snapshot of the page and posting it as the picture for the page, we should be able to change the picture displayed. That way, I can make it a high quality logo like the default for facebook or twitter instead of a nasty screenshot.

I have hard time calling "high quality" a basic two color tile, but yes the metroish tiles are often requested by people used to the oversimplified trend that started win win 8 and that was embraced by google and apple.
I'm sure they will come as a part of the general SD improvement.
-
Fair enough, and I could care less about the tiles but I like the easy access to my most used bookmarks, like Chrome's bookmark bar that only appears at the new tab page I LOVED but Vivaldi doesn't have that so the tiles are the next best thing and it looks ugly with the screenshot of the home page.

You mean like Google Chrome's Incognito Mode?
-
Please add three-finger trackpad gesture support on Mac. For some reason the support that was added only works for two-finger gestures. All other browsers support whatever setting is applied in System Preferences.

I would like to see an option for the Start Page to use icons instead of thumbnails―either icons grabbed from the website (same as those used on a tab, etc.) or a custom image you could select manually.
-
Yes, absolutely. The screenshots are not very good, and an official logo or icon of the page would look much nicer, especially now that the trend is clean, flat icons. It's a good look. Let's hope it stays this way for a while. We should even be able to upload a custom image for your bookmarked site.
-
speed dial features:
ability to set the thumbnail image manually (with automatic scaling preferably)
use of extensions while generating thumbnails (pages full of ads are ugly)general features:
ability to disable builtin password manager (never asks to save password)
ability to add ssl certificate exceptions -
Yes Plz add silent fetures to the install or provide MSI packages

Download data.
If possible it would be helpful, IMHO, to have the same amount of download data presented to the
user, and in a similar format, as was seen in the old Opera-12.16.It would also be helpful to be able to delete personal data as quickly as it was in the old Opera-12.16,
i.e., alt-t, d, enter. Or, an extension similar to "Click & Clean" that is available for Firefox which clears
data with one click.Thirdly, being able to zoom in or out using only the plus or minus keys was one of my
favorite features of the old Opera-12.16. -
When two pages are viewed tiled side by side add a "Compare" button that would highlight differences between the pages
-
Sidebar Panel : Links or media that would list all media like Images / mp3 / pdf with an option to sort by type/file size and option to download it /save od disk/copy URL.
There are many websites with lots of small content: hundreds of small images , mp3 podcasts, old radio recordings etc..I would appreciate if I could have such crawler that would filter out all such media and present them in the form of a list easy do download.
There was something called Links in my old usedtobefavouritebefore12browseryouknowhername. -
DIV/Resource filter. Maybe it already exists in form of plugin but here's my idea:
a configurable reg ex filter that would filter out DIV by id or classes and remove them from html structure before page gets rendered.
e.g. #rightsidebar - if i know that anything in the #rightsidebar will be pure spam or willor it could work on domain base for a resource: image, flash, iframe src etc.
e.g. if src = "spammyserver.com/" - do not load the resourceRules could be global or per website.
It would be a geeky way to do it but there's a code inspector already built in.
Ideally somebody could host an online list of ad servers (so that people would need to add filters manually.FYI: I do support few websites by switching adblock off and donations. But some websites are so overloaded with flash ads so much, that it crashes my FF

I need this feature :
1. Screenshot entire pages
2. Download manager similar to DownThemAll
3. Tile Bookmark similar to Opera
4. Zoom in and Zoom out in Vivaldi Main menu
5. AutoHide Sidebar and AddressBar
6. Addressbar for Fullscreen
7. Integrated AdBlock
8. Block All text when click SearchBarThanks

Very nice browser. It's just my good old Opera at first glance!
Tho, still some nitpicking:
1-for invalid URLs there is no "copy link address" in context menu.
2-ability to run active content (i.e. video) by click, not automatically.
3-in bookmarks bar, triangles takes too much space and completely unnecessary.
4-panel button bar takes whole stripe for only 4 buttons. and I'd like it on top or bottom or between main window and side panel.
5-I miss GO button, not "reload", but just equivalent of pressing Enter in the address bar.
6-why can't i customise the size of tiles on speed dial? for example I want a weather control on there and preview for my twitter page (again, like in Opera).
Nevertheless, great job! -
also, this forum's engine sucks, i can't even see my post.
