Vivaldi Feature Request:
Remaining time indicator of ongoing downloads + some indicator when download is finished -
I agree with Stardust
-
This is a really annoying behavior actually… When I use "Ctrl+f" to search for something in a page, I can't use the "Esc" key to get rid of the search "bar" that opens...
-
Thanks for the "paste and go" in address bar.
How about a "copy link text" in the right click menu within the main browser page view?
-
Hi.
Can be an "USER INTERFACE SCALE" scaleable with a mouse wheel?
Thanks. -
Since the release of the first preview I tested your browser again and again.
And I think there's a big potential in your browser, but there are also somethings which I think needs to be done.
So here are a few suggestions.1. User Interface
1.1. I think everyone want's to see as much of a website as possible so my first suggestion goes along with this need.
As you already offer to choose the position of every bar, I would also like to get an option to merge the address bar and tab bar.
-> Move the buttons [back], [forward], [reload], etc. to the tab bar.
The tab bar should transform into the address bar on double clicking on a tab.
I think it would be awesome to do it with an expand effect. -> The tab which was double clicked becomes larger and larger until it reached the size of the address bar.1.2. You're already offering an option to hide the address bar, but you likely forgot to handle a key event.
If the address bar is hidden (temporary) show it again on pressing ctrl + l.
In combination with suggestion no 1: Expand the current tab to the address bar.1.3. I would like to get an option to show an additional button in the address bar which allows me to open my favorities in the paneele.
(An additional click should hide the paneele)3. Quick commands
3.1. I would like to open websites on the current displayed tab. (Without typing something additional to the command)
3.2. I would like to edit the names of the commands.
3.3. I would like to see a better predicition of the commands.
I don't want to do a google search if I typed "set" or "settings".
I simply want to open the settings.
-> I want to execute the command if my query starts with a substring of the command or my query is the same string as the name of my command.4. Extensions
Add menu point to open the extensions list. (There thankfully available though "about:extensions")
By the way it would also nice to be able to add quick commands by creating extensions.
(Oh and please don't remove the possibility to use LOCAL extensions)I hope you consider to implement my suggestions.
Thank you in advance. -
1. There will, in time, be tons and tons of ways to customize the interface. Almost anything you can think of will be possible.
2. You didn't ask a #2.
3 A work in progress. This will evolve over time.
4. Extensions were not removed. They can still (almost all of them) be installed, and can be managed at vivaldi://extensions. The buttons and such cannot be shown yet, because the portions of the User Interface which would make this possible are still being written. The developers are working hard at it. -
Id like to see a configurable feature that resembles the function of extensions like:
http://www.wipmania.com/ or https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ip-whois-flags-chrome-web/kmdfbacgombndnllogoijhnggalgmkonInformation of the website's IP-Adresses locations, Nameservers and an option to show the AS used would be useful to me.

@costa:
To make a browser your own the look and feel is important.
Agreed. I find the monochrome look rather drab, though the UI scaling goes a long way to enhance ease of use, which for me was the primary motivation for using skins with large (32pix) icons in Opera.
Colour also helps a lot, though, to make buttons easier to pick out quickly if you have a lot of different toolbar buttons to choose from. With only six button in Vivaldi, it's not yet a huge issue, but I do hope to see real skins some time before Christmas.

Minimum tabs width
In Vivaldi (like in Opera and Chromium), when you fill the top of the window with tabs and you open more tabs, these become smaller and smaller until you reach a point where you can't see anything of the web pages' titles or anything, so it's not very handy switching between tabs.
On the other hand, in Firefox the tabs have a minimum width, and when you reach that minimun when you open new tabs you have to scroll left and right to browse them. I'd like to have this feature in Vivaldi.

I'd like to have the option of clean the downloads history on exit.

I don't want Vivaldi to ask me if I want it to remember my password. I'd like to have an option so I won't 'bothered' anymore.

About the bookmarks section of the panel, I find it very handy. But I think that with a couple of changes it could be much better:
- When you double click on a bookmark to open it, the panel should 'hide'. That way you don't have to lose your time hiding it each time you open a bookmark.
- If you're browsing your bookmarks and you open a folder (or several folders) and you hide the panel, the next time you open the panel, the folder/s are still opened. I'd like that when you hide the panel, the folders closed. At least optionally.
-
I really miss the 'Close tabs to the right' feature.

You might find this useful: Right-click, and collapse all folders.

Here are my suggestions:
- Quick commands to default to command not to search. Example usage: F2 - "plu" - Enter will open plugins page. You can search in address bar anyway.
- Fuzzy matching in quick commands. E.g. "fs" or "tofu" matches "Toggle Full Screen".
- Open new tab next to active setting.
- Open new types of certain (configurable) types immediately. Example: pass torrent file to bittorrent client automatically.
- Click to show/play for flash.
- Make main menu work as it usually works: Alt+F for File, etc, navigate with hotkeys, show shortcuts next to menu item caption. Integration with Ubuntu Unity HUD would be also very nice.

I don't know if these features have already been suggested (this topic is becoming a real mess) :
[ul]-
- An option to disable tab bar's top spacing. This option is available in Opera (although restricted to when the window is maximized), and is very handful
-
- Could you allow the history page to have a dark background when the dark theme is selected (or a different option) ?
-
- In Opera Mini (on iOS, at least), the history page groups pages from the same website in only one page (so, if I was browsing in Facebook or in Wikipedia, all the pages are displayed in only one item). The history page would be more clear and concise with that feature.
[/ul]
And a great THANK YOU to the whole team at Vivaldi !You're doing a great job !

I love to learn new words in many websites (I'm very enjoying in learning many languages). Here are my requests:
1. Add ability to render CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) font thickness by X%.
2. I want user-defined "Reading Mode" (or Read It Later, similar function). Many "Reading Mode" extensions/features don't work properly in some websites (sometimes they capture wrong text in a news website). So, add ability that user can select text in article and add it to "Read Later".
3. I also want further improvisation on "Reading Mode" after number 2. Give ability to highlight word/phrase in "Read Later" article, then save the word. The saved word list is displayed on the side of browser (left/right). Then, user has ability to look word definition/translation by click the word on the list.
This feature is similar with extension of Biscuit for Chrome, but Biscuit is premium (users have to pay) and Biscuit has own dictionary. I want user has ability to choose free online dictionary (like Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and so on.). Biscuit for Chrome has flashcard feature. User can flip between "word" and "definition".
4. Add these features too for supporting number 3:- New word added from an article, make a link between new word and sentence that has the new word. Like this:
"new"
"… this machine has [new] features" – line 20, www.example.com - This is new request User can also add word by himself and add it to word list
5. For online Japanese dictionary (for supporting Word List), I recommend Hatena, Kotobank, ALC, and Weblio.

Other suggestion:
Add "breadcrumb bar" option for address bar, so I don't need to click URL and delete any word after "/"For example:
https>>vivaldy.net>>forum>>all>>746-vivaldi-feature-request>>reply
Clicking on ">>" will jump to specified website in the URL
